Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use vin number' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend failed completely as shown in later episodes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys,
I am looking at buying a 1999 996 and exporting it from the UK to Australia. In order to do so it needs to be 25 years old. I know the year of manufacturing but not the month.
Does anyone know how to find this out from the vin number?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest regards
Richard

Use this link. Insert your own VIN. It will give month, although the day is generic.
Not sure if you are aware but Porsche VIN is WPzero, not WPoh.
But the main reason I'm responding: I'd get a (RHD) car from Japan over one from the UK as come winter time UK roads are sprinkled with the most aggressive salt (rustwise) there is and the risk that rust is hiding is just too great for all the effort involved in importing it to Australia.
I'd even drive LHD cars in a RHD country to avoid a UK car.
Of course chances are you're spending the sort of money that gets you a summer only car but since the 996 has been so cheap during it's lifetime many will have lived outside a large part of their life when those without a garage owned them.
Apart from gt3's (no seam sealer applied to those, mind) and the turbo, probably.
Watch this and shudder

Edit: are you entirely sure that it is the date of manufacture as opposed to the date of first registration that must be at least 25 years ago?
The latter is easily checked through the original registration of the vehicle whereas the manufacturing date is not documented on the vehicle itself via a sticker or such on a non-US type vehicle.
I don't have a build date plate on my car either. I ran the number and the don't see a build date in the report. It does give me the MFR. Model Code as "996110". Is the build date November 2000?
Yes, the Vinanalytics.com report will give the month day and year (e.g. its birthday)
No, the 996-110 is the model designation and has nothing to do with the transmission. 996-110 = 911 Carrera Coupe
If it says its a Tiptronic, its a Tiptronic
