Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 1999 C2 with standard, power seats with supple black leather. It is full power, including fore and aft, (is this 8 way?) unlike my 1999 C4 which has manual fore and aft. The seats stopped functioning. I took it to my local shop, BR Racing in Los Gatos, CA. They were unable to get them to work as normal, but now that I have the car back, the switches do work, but perform another functions. The tilt now controls fore and aft, the fore and aft control the tilt and I no control for the back of the seat. I got the seat to where I can drive it, but I need help. Is there a way to fix this on my own? They recommend a new control unit which is $1100+. Is there an aftermarket for a used control unit? Is there another work around?
What was wrong with manual seats? How often do we change our seating position? I have had power seat issue in my Mercedes, BMW and now my 911. I have never had a problem with my son's Scion or my daughters Toyota with MANUAL operation, but seriously why power? Heavier, more complex and the only seat adjustments I do are in rental cars.

I am in exactly the same situation. My drivers side seat does not function. No fore and aft, no up/down, no tilt. There is power to the seat controls. There is power to the memory seat module under the seat. Basically, the memory seat module has blown and I cannot get the seat to move. I would have to jury rig a power supply to the under seat motors to move fore/aft so I could remove the seat bolts in order to remove the seat memory module and replace it at $$$$$. Ummmm...not doing it. The seat is in the correct position I need. You can remove the seat bottom to access underneath the seat, but the memory seat module is screwed underneath the seat and is not accessible this way. I've been at this many different ways, and to this day it remains un-repaired and broken. So much for 20+ year old electronics.... .
My Mini Cooper has manual seat controls. It is so simple and just works. I would give anything to have that in my 996.
