Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Why did you "fix" your car with Ebay VW parts? To save some money? You had a problem with the windows not dropping. You "fixed" the problems with Ebay parts. And now you have another problem(s). Hmmmm...any idea? "Does the ebay parts not work with the 996?" You own a PORSCHE, not an ebay VW whatever. Pony up and do it right.

POST 4Original post

Did you replace both the LH and RH door latches with the same part number? There are two different part numbers for the LH (drivers side) and RH (passenger side) door latches. See #14 here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=804-00

What model of 996? Here's the deal, while it may seem like the best route to save a buck on a similar part on a different car, I wouldn't advise it when it comes to Porsche electrical parts. In fact, I've order units from Porsche direct and they've sent me email explaining they looked into my car's configuration (based on VIN) and found that the part I wanted to order is a little different on my model. They would usually suggest an alternative. One time, they even made me custom adapter cable. And, guess what... it worked the first time. I suggest going to your nearest Porsche parts center and get some help to order the right OE parts.
