Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

the car takes a few attempts to start and the short term fuel trims show hugely positive and its running really lean, its been smoke tested and no intake leaks no vac leaks, new AOS last year.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Ive had a few issues with running and starting with my 2000 996 3.4 C4 and want to check if a noise that I assumed was normal fuel pump priming is normal I have filmed it and added to you tube. Happens every time the key is turned in the ignition. Do your cars sound like this? You Tube let me know if this is normal as I have a feeling my fuel pump is failing the car takes a few attempts to start and the short term fuel trims show hugely positive and its running really lean, its been smoke tested and no intake leaks no vac leaks, new AOS last year. Its been getting worse and now un-drivable. thanks Im advance!

POST 2Original post

If it's the fuel pump, here's a pretty good video demonstrating how to change it. You Tube

POST 4Original post

Hi Those are the Litronic aiming motors for your headlights making that sound. Normal. However, that does not mean your fuel pump is not starting to fail.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
