Good question , I have a 2001 C4 , which allegedly had an engine change at 65k, I have just crossed 104k, checking my o filter every 5k.

I'm looking at a 2001 996 C4 that had a Porsche factory crate engine replacement at 60k km. I'm wondering if porsche addressed the IMS issue in their later crate engines. Thanks!

Addressed it how? It is a fundamental part of the design of the engine, and that is not ever going to change. If it brings you peace of mind, have the bearing replaced and then you will know exactly what you have. This topic has been beaten to death!

My motor went south at 89k mileage in '10. I had a factory crate engine dropped in and now have 129k miles, no issues so far ...

I'm in the same boat too....2001 C2 just crossed 102k but engine has a bit over 40k on it. Engine replaced under warranty in 2003. I drive it like I stole it, use 5w40 and change every 5k Would be pretty bad luck to have 2 engines go bad!

I have a 99 with a newer engine, and it actually got worse. It went from a dual row to a single row bearing.....
