Once I get in there I'll double check for play - but I'm hoping everything is nice and tight.

Shifter - I don't think the bushings are serviceable, so my plan is to replace the unit with a B&M short shift kit.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking into a slight face lift and tummy tuck on my 13 year old cab with ~70k on the clock. Although I like to keep current with preventative maintenance and generally hop on problems as soon as they arise - the car feels ... sloppy. My main concerns are the suspension and shifter, although after 70k miles, I'm sure there are lots of fresh wear items that could be spiffed up. So, with that in mind, here's what I'm thinking about swapping out. I'm wondering if anybody else has gone through this exercise before and has some words of wisdom or source of inexpensive parts. Shifter - I don't think the bushings are serviceable, so my plan is to replace the unit with a B&M short shift kit. Front tie rod ends Front control arms & A arm assembly Front drop links Front sway bar bushings Rear sway bar bushings Rear drop links My plan is basically to leave everything else in the rear as-is. Once I get in there I'll double check for play - but I'm hoping everything is nice and tight. Where else will I get some good bang for my buck?

POST 2Original post

* brakes: flush and fill * coolant: flush and fill * air filter, spark plugs, power steering fluid IOW, have you done items for the 60K maintenance service?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Kromdom. I do my maintenance (mostly) myself and I've looked through the 60k service. 90% of it are inspection items - which I've mostly done. Spark plugs are only 15k old, same with the belt & filters. I'm probably due for brake caliper inspection, flush. I've never done the coolant, so that's due too. Do these cars need a vacuum coolant fill or can I do this one myself? On another note, has anybody used any of the very inexpensive control arms off ebay? I see many examples for ~150/set
