Baking is probably a crappy way to go, and nobody, not even a Darwin award winner, deserves that.

I didn't read the RLOT thread about this and just assumed that it was the result of some accident that left them trapped.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Well, it looks like Chevrolet has FINALLY created a car on par with its European rivals.
The Z06-powered Z-07-trim Corvette has a 6.2L LT4 V-8 cranking out 650HP and 650 LB-FT...with a fully trimmed cabin, amazing suspension, and awesome track performance.
But - MORE IMPORTANTLY - Chevrolet has finally mastered the art of building cars that blow up unexpectedly. Gone are the days of 350 cubic inch pushrod engines that run forever...
In my inbox today from Corvette forum was this exciting announcement:
After Just Six Miles, C7 Corvette Z06 Motor Explodes
New owner of an $80,000 Corvette with 7 miles total on the odometer got a couple of miles from the dealership when the car started knocking and then blew chunks of LT-4 all over the road.
Congratulations, Chevrolet, for finally joining the ranks of the supercar elite*
*I do not believe any C7's have spontaneously burst into flame, but dream big!
Well, at least the car didn't catch on fire...You know, like those other guys who came out with a high-end uber-fast sports car...
I'm not sure a gold chain would be hard enough to break an LS4 - but who knows. Whatever it is that leaks out of douche bags has been known to eat through an IMS bearing or two...
Sweet! I live for random, obliquely related posts spun off of a single word!
In the 21st century historians have increasingly portrayed the 70's as a "pivot of change" in world history focusing especially on the economic upheavals.
In the Western world, social progressive values that began in the 1960s, such as increasing political awareness and political and economic liberty of women, continued to grow. In the United Kingdom the 1979 elections resulted in the victory of its Conservative Party under Margaret Thatcher, the first and to date only female British Prime Minister.
Industrialized countries, except Japan, experienced an economic recession due to an oil crisis caused by oil embargoes by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries. The crisis saw the first instance of stagflation which began a political and economic trend of the replacement of Keynesian economic theory with neoliberal economic theory, with the first neoliberal governments being created in Chile, where a military coup led by Augusto Pinochet took place in 1973.
The press is going on and on about the "hidden" release to unlock the door manually. The old dude could also have popped the three latches to open the targa panel - those aren't even "hidden."
Baking is probably a crappy way to go, and nobody, not even a Darwin award winner, deserves that. And the dog sure as hell didn't deserve it.
Dude was a 72-year-old arthritic diabetic who bought the car just a few weeks ago (so says CorvetteForum.com). Looks like he expired while thumbing through the manual after unsuccessfully trying to pop the hatch.
Unlike the panel in my C4, removing the C6 targa panel requires no tools - just three latches to open. Even with no power, no battery, and no hammer, this shouldn't have been a fatality.
Bummer - but an easily avoided one if the guy had taken an evening and read the manual.
Sucks for him, sucks for his dog.
Like we needed yet another reason to NEVER eat at Waffle House.
I didn't read the RLOT thread about this and just assumed that it was the result of some accident that left them trapped.
I still feel sorry for the dog.
Edit: Scratch that, I feel even more sorry for the dog.
Well, while I feel sorry for the dog, the loss of a man's life is for what I'm really sorry to read about.
After having been around my elderly parents for nearly 3 years the last 3 years of their lives, and being exposed to other elderly folks in varying degrees of old age I could understand this guy might not have managed to know how to get out of the car in an emergency.
RIP to the old guy.
