Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey guys, some time has passed already, but I can finally confirm that i have got rid of the sluggish tiptronic transmission and got a fun stick in my car and three pedals well the car is such a nice machine with a manual. I don't have any pics since all that was done in a rush. but basically there is nothing difficult in converting the cable throttle car to work. the most tricky part of all the swap was to get the clutch line consisting of three pieces I got each piece from different country to get the car starting the starter relay had to be removed and the thick yellow wire soldered together. nr 7 (located behind rear parcel shelf/seats what you basically need : 1. gearbox 2. flywheel/clutch 3. clutch fork 4. clutch line 5. pedal assembly (no you cannot just add the third pedal, a metal rod is too short on tip cars, for the clutch pedal 6. slave cylinder 7. master cylinder 8. brake fluid reservoir (with black plastic clutch line to master cylinder) 9. driveshafts (tiptronic ones are too short) 10. shift cables 11. shifter assembly no need to do anything with ECU car works perfectly (nr 605) what I still have to tackle cruise control is not yet working, hadn't had the time to add clutch pedal switch (maybe someon can throw a link with porsche wiring diagrams? ) CEL but only complaining that there is no tiptronic trasmission to be found reverse lights, again lack of time but all in all the car runs like a champ, and I love it even more now in between maybe someone can chime in with advice on front clunking sounds, I assume that the strut mounts are due to replacement, since the roads over here are often terrible. do I also need to replace the strut bearings as well. (just piling up the order list ) and since the gt3 coilovers are planned to be the next update, what must be done to install them with the stock rubber mounts not the uniball ones thanks. cheers

POST 2Original post

Congrats on the successful transplant! Every once in a while, someone pipes up with a project that will almost certainly never happen (i.e. "Going to convert my ____ to RWD!!!). It's awesome to see one of these become reality.

POST 3Original post

Well done. You will probably need to reflash the ECU manual transmission for the CEL to go away. I did the same exact thing to my Passat TDI last summer and the list of parts are identical to your. The ECU reflash also got the cruise control working (after installing the brake switch and re wiring the clutch switch). The reflash might need the proper gear ratios to get the cruise to work. For the VW if the ratio is incorrect, the ECU will think the clutch is slipping and not let the cruise control to engage (even after the pedal switches are installed). I wouldn't be suprised if you'll face the same issues.
