Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

OK, exactly 30 seconds of searching did not give me a clear answer, can I ask for support? I am interested in a real limited slip for track applications. Step one? What transmission do I have? Any help would be appreciated. Aisin? Getrag? Thanks for your support.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks man. What code? G96? Which ones were Aisin, sorry I am so confused from reading internet nonsense.

I've got a '99 and the package contained codes 220, 222 and 224. 220 LSD Limited Slip Differential 222 Traction control ASR AntriebsSchlupfRegelung 224 Traction control ABD Automatic Braking Differential

POST 5Original post

Well do u have an auto or manual? all manuals in the no turbo c2 996 cars r the same. I believe there were 2 different tips.

POST 6Original post

Thanks 6MT. I am looking for the next level of improvements at the track. For example at Mid-Ohio (Keyhole & Carousel), after watching hours of cars go through on different lines...A good limited slip would make a substantial improvement, especially when accelerating out of the turns. This was the info I needed and I appreciate your quick responses.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Jobyt: Yes, that option list is the same as my car. From others driving my car at the track, the LSD is long gone and not functionally helping me. Therefore I am looking at a custom re-build for the track, or a drop in aftermarket replacement (Guards, OS Giken, Wavetrac).

Got it! What other mods do you have to the car? It feels with the engine in the back the LSD is less needed? (I never felt the need for an LSD but my car was just lightly modded on 200tw tires).

FWIW Guards told me there is machine work needed for their LSD, not a drop in or DIY affair, their recommendation. Not meant to be a detriment, from my research, theirs is the LSD you want. Shoot me a PM if you want more info from my correspondence with them.

If you have the LSD option and it's not working, it can be rebuilt. The clutch plates wear and can be replaced.

Thanks, almost full monoball suspension and currently M/L Sport Cup 2 Tires. I would have agreed with you last year, but this year my pace is picking up. And having Instructors drive my car and mention the benefit is helping me give it consideration. Thanks, my research (very little) has shown that Guards might not be the best choice for a dual purpose car. Of course, it is still being considered, but dual purpose is still my plan. Yes, that is the leading plan. A Porsche Motorsports Trans shop in Ohio (Copans) has been very educational for me and will rebuild it with motorsports parts for a reasonable price. They also said it can be tuned to the specific usage desired and should last for a very long time.

POST 14Original post

I like the direction you’re thinking and Copans will not guide your wrong. Keep me up on the direction you go.

POST 15Original post

My car is optioned the same way. Question is: is there a way to completely disable the ASR and ABD by turning of the TC button? Ive read that its always on in some cases.

POST 16Original post

Absolutely if you are going to track your car or drive it around locally where you need grip such as on dirty, gravely, snow and wet roads. It will give you grip using both rear tires/wheels versus one spinning all the time. If you only take the car out on dry warm days in town, it doesn't matter.

Good question, I don't know. If I come across any information on it, I'll post
