I can understand him suggesting to use a shop that's local for a PPI, just make sure specifics are outlined that you want details on (dropping sump, bore scope, etc.) to make sure the PPI includes the main areas of concerns that can be inspected aside from the general items.

Hello - Does anyone have experience with Foremost Speed Shop in Atlanta? Or experience with this vehicle?

Back story is I've been communicating with the seller, and I've agreed to terms with him at his purchase request. The car is currently at Foremost and has been worked on by Leonard. Leonard has also been trying to sell it for the buyer, and it appears has used my offer to try and source another buyer. Either way, we agreed on a price, but the seller is saying that if you want to buy it you have to do the PPI at the Foremost because he doesn't have the time to take it to another place in Atlanta.
It seems unusual. Should I walk away? Do people have good experience with Foremost?
Maybe the seller is being honest and just wants to sell the car. Google is a big help when checking on businesses. Did you try that? And if Leonard has been working on the car, why not talk to him? He might know a lot about the car.
I've done google searches, and I've spoken with Leonard. My concern is that I won't be getting an honest assessment given the relationship between the seller and mechanic.
Have they shared copies of invoices from previous work performed by him? You can at least identify the various things that have been address and see if anything unusual stands out. I have no experience with Foremost, but if you don't have a good feeling after the above is addressed, maybe it's not the right car for you.
Call the owner, Jason, and tell him want you want to know from a PPI. He can tell you what he knows from records he has about those items. But, getting a PPI from the car owner’s shop is not giving you peace of mind about possible issues their biased eyes may continue to not find. Of course, shop pride/bias would come free of charge with their inspection. My indie won’t do a PPI for a car he’s serviced. Cites conflict of interest.
