Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Ill be dropping the sump and inspecting the cylinders for bore scoring.

I wish I'd explained that over-revs could cause valve damage due to timing changes caused by skipped teeth.(due to chain stretch)

In other videos on that channel I was in the background doing a compression test and smoke testing a C4 Corvette.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Congrats on the purchase.
Drop the sump like Tex Squirrel said and while you are in there, borescope the cylinders for scoring. You can get a cheap borescope off Amazon or at a parts store. It will give you peace of mind.
Hey yogi was a pleasure to meet you with Squirrel on Saturday. Im not trying to make you mad but I honestly think you started with the wrong car and probably do to the bidding in eBay pay too much for it. Anyway this one was in PCA market . The car needed nothing, factory hard top included and stand included 100 💯 stock other than Alpine radio and the seller was including the two keys, valet key, books cover and original Becker radio with the code, 66,000 miles.Anyway my number was $17,500 it sold for $19,000. I know you want to work on the car but if thats the case you can probably get something that drives cheaper. I met the owner of the red one in Katy on Sunday, he got a bargain 84,000 miles $12,500 5 months ago.
That one closed today.
Yogi needs content though.
If he bought something that didn’t need any work, he wouldn’t have much to video.
I think he’s a lot like a bunch of us, he wants something to work on.
The time it takes folks to make these videos is appreciated. Seeing everything from different angles, out of the car, taken apart, makes doing the job myself much easier.
Aww man! I love red. Appreciate the feedback though. I knew I could probably find one in better shape for a few grand more but wheres the fun in that?! 😎
Just a heads up to all who might have something to offer in parts. Im definitely going to gut the interior and possibly do black/grey mix. A stretch would be blue/black. Im also going to need a new headlight switch and ****, front bumper cover, strut mounts, control arms, tail lights, and so on.
if anyone has something they want to promote let me know too Id love to talk about it in a video. An example is Im in early discussions with an artist who does Porsche wall art. I could feature one of his works and promote his business. Just spitballing..
Great video !! There is a host of wonderful content in there for people who are new to the 996 platform, and presented very entertainingly ( Bruce is much more photogenic than I had imagined
)..
BTW:: thanks for the shout-out on the UAOS by Bruce (TexSquirrel) on your video, much appreciated !!!

I have learned a lot here, and I think this is awesome. Yogi is a pretty cool guy. As someone that bought and fixed eurospec BMWS and Mercedes for over two years , all I was saying is that you had to buy the car right. That was my source of income. No I was not filming or showing people how to do them, anyway Ill be watching yogi because I may be buying a cab.
@TexSquirrel
Loved your explanation of the over revs, heard it before but not in your level of detail. Btw, Tips can have over revs too. Mine had 1 over rev when I bought it, just one stage 1 though, so no biggee.
Now I can't go out in public without a hat and sunglasses.
HA!
Nickies, The IMS Solution and the UAOS...the three must have's IMHO.
I didn't really realize I was being interviewed.
I thought he was videoing so he could repeat what I said.
We were just having a good conversation.
When he said he had interviewed me I had a serious pucker moment.
But in hind sight I probably wouldn't have been as relaxed if I knew I was going to end up on Youtube again.
I was on another channel where I explained fuel injector pulse width testing using an oscilloscope.
That was nerve wrecking!
In other videos on that channel I was in the background doing a compression test and smoke testing a C4 Corvette.
Watching the video, I wish I'd elaborated a bit more.
I wish I'd explained that over-revs could cause valve damage due to timing changes caused by skipped teeth.(due to chain stretch)
...and that piston/crank/block/head damage is also a possibility.
I have a VW Scirocco Bertil Roos camshaft that's in 6 pieces because of a broken timing belt.
I also wish I'd mentioned bore scoring, but I think we had already talked about it, so when I mentioned dropping the sump he knew I meant drop and scope.
Yogi's editing did wonders for making me not sound like an idiot!
I imagine he took out 50 ums, uhs, and long pauses.
anyone going to the get together on Saturday at Kingsbierhaus? I think this will provide additional content for yogis channel. I want to meet people from the other side of town.
Yogi our Porsche club of America Region is one of the most actives. They just celebrated 60 years. Anyway, do a search PCA Lone Star Region then for whatever you would like to see like the concours show, Track, touring, get togethers click on that topic and after the description on the bottom is the calendar of events. There are 6 get togethers on Saturdays every month. One in Sugarland, another one in the woodlands, then this saturday is Kingbierhaus in the heights Im staying over to drink a few drafts (they owe me my birthday Reward), then there is one here in Katy, plus two other ones.
