Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

They dont list a mk-1 specific app. Which kit did u use?

POST 3Original post

Not an answer to your question, but I used their Mk2 kit on my 2003. At first, I was disappointed with bubbles and trapped liquid. After about a week or so, it was all clear. After the fact, I think the lights look great! And I believe them to be now well protected. I was grouchy those first few days, though.

POST 6Original post

I was told by a prospective installer that it is against recommendations to Xpel the 996 headlight. Something about a factory coating. Anyone know about this at all?

POST 7Original post

https://www.xpel.com/shop/headlight-protection-film Probably the same stuff, its a uv and impact film. I just had the lights buffed and im trying to keep them looking good. i would imagine that after compounding 20yrs of yellow off the plastic there is no factory coating left. Maybe they r reffering to new headlights?

POST 9Original post

From the 2003 911 Owners Manual - it is recommended to not apply film to the headlights:

POST 11Original post

I have a 2000 model and ordered mine from Suncoast. Looks great but agree that it looked like crap the first week or two until all the air bubbles disappeared. Tad

^^^ That's so they can sell you new ones for $2k a piece... Expel is fine... I've had it on mine after refinish for about 3 years now. No problems besides the area out side the film starting to yellow again...
