Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
it was the model for the original 996 brochure in late '98.
Leading evidence: 'model' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'model' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace avatar' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

You've GOT to change your avatar - it's completely creeping me out.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

yes, zenith blue. 1999. 60K miles. manual. limited slip. grey interior. comfort package; will be looking to upgrade suspension. it came with a set of litronics that the previous owner hadn't installed. i guess i need to figure out how to do that as well--is there wiring or are they just dropin. also came with a set of classic wheels. PO took great care of the car and kept it very clean. i think he felt bad letting it go but he just didn't have time to drive it.
my SC is an 81. here's a pic.
lol i wondered about that, was surprised that 10-12 posts might be thought an inappropriately large number for someone who is not a paid member, sure i like to date a while before going steady or even getting married, but otoh i don't want to be thought a deadbeat. then i figured he just likes me and wants me to stick around, and realizes once i've paid i'm less likely to go away.
Thanks all for the kind welcome. Looking forward to a long and endearing relationship with all of you!
Your litronics are a drop in. Consult your manual on how to remove the headlights. Welcome! Get the exhaust upgrade by FisterD and it will sound great.
Are you kidding?
This would be great in poster size, hanging on the garage wall. So majestic, sparkling there in the sunlight. As if upon grasping it, you'll enter a magic realm of mystical tales and make believe. It's a beautiful photo Mr. Steelkilt.
I realize why your car looks familiar.... it was the model for the original 996 brochure in late '98.
Zenith blue with the amber lenses throughout the brochure, PM me your email and I can send you a PDF copy.... see what a fine group we are.
You made great choices in color: green SC & blue 996, love them. I made the SC>996 move about a year ago for my track car. Still learning, and still a lot of fun!
Wow, i'd love to see that! Thanks! PM sent.
Thanks, green is a great color! i'm sure i'll be tracking the 996, though i'll also keep tracking the SC, i love the "old school" feel, just need more hp these days at some tracks. btw my SC is actually blue.
lol uncle burnie. nice try. you should contact DFC and compare notes, he seems to recognize a Durango 95 when he sees one
You've GOT to change your avatar - it's completely creeping me out. Who is that? Buffalo Bill from 'Silence of the Lambs'? Should we be very afraid of you?
as i recall buffalo bill was a psychotic murderer. i'd rather you didn't compare me to him. after all i'm a paid member of this forum so i should be entitled to some tolerance. i actually kind of like the avatar. not creepy at all except perhaps on a superficial level. but go deeper. it's just alex. a young man whom the institutions of society sought to control, betrayed by his droogs, incarcerated, brainwashed by the authorities using experimental techniques. and now i stumble into this place using that avatar. it is strongly suggested i must immediately become a paid member. and now i'm told to change the avatar. am i the only one seeing the irony here. i'm thinking the avatar is appropriate. don't fear me, fear for me.
Yea, watched it alone with the door closed so the wife couldn't see it.. she gets mad when I watch that stuff, but its a "must watch" at some point in everyone's life... just watch it alone - or at a drunken brawl
hey, }{, you still driving that green car. now i have one of these more refined cars maybe i'll be able to keep up with you.
suspension is a little cadillac-esque. something to make it more track worthy. i know a lot of folks get the pss9s, and i don't know what else is out there. open to ideas. still has to be comfortable on the street so i'm not opposed to adjustable with a view to dual purpose.
(p.s. your avatar is awesome)
Get PSS9s and GT3 sways = cost of PSS10s if you are going to track. I have heard some complaints on the PSS10s. They have some kinks to work out being new and all.
I don't
think
PSS9s are available any longer, although some vendors may still have some inventory. I looked a ffew places and did not find any, even though some vendors had them listed on their site.
If you are talking about the thrust washer/bearing posts, those are due to install errors. If not, please elaborate
I have a PPI tomorrow morning for this very same 996. This thread is very old, but Steelkilt if by chance you are getting notices your post has been updated, I am interested in learning more about your history with this Zenith Blue 1999 996. It has 87K on it now and it is excellent condition, however there is no service history or owner records offered by seller.
