I'm not too keen on changing exhaust and intake parameters with out keeping the engines map good to go.

Suggestion

I would be careful with raising the rev limiter yunless you've change valve springs, guided, rod bolts, etc.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Are there any options for fuel mapping the 1999 Carrera? I've seen some on here have sportbikes with me also owning a K6 GSX-R1000 that I can map the fuel on a dyno. I'm not seeing anything like Dynojet offers. I'm not too keen on changing exhaust and intake parameters with out keeping the engines map good to go.

POST 2Original post

Most of th major software tuners offer a 'tune' for the 996 3.4 and 3.6. Altering the fuel maps is part of what they flash along with advancing the timing and raising the rev limiter. I would be careful with raising the rev limiter yunless you've change valve springs, guided, rod bolts, etc. They already at 7200....

Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep shopping around. Some of the info I'd like to see on the fuel mapping side is being able to compare maps. I'm sure the software writers are going to make improvements in their features as time goes by. While replying Im seeing the same manufacture of race headers for my bike makes headers for the Porsche. Ill have to read further to see if their car headers are the same as the bikes where the headers are formed to not needing any alternate tuning methods to stay in specs for flow. Well I think I just broke my heart seeing the turbo 996 is covered and plenty of 997s have exhaust but not my 1999 996. 24k in weight loss back there would be nice. Possibly they used to make for the early 996s so off to browsing some more. http://www.akrapovic.com/car-exhaust/products/porsche/
