Reported cause
In my experience, the yellows have proven to be more abrasive and have a tendency to chew down the rotors faster.

Suggestion
I don't normally recommend Hawks for anything but street driving (and I don't list them on the site) but the hawk HPS would probably be a good fit for you.
Leading evidence: 'more abrasive and have a tendency' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'more abrasive and have a tendency' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend hawks' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Fair enough - I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, and while I'm sure there are pads that perform better, I recommend the Hawk's all the time, well - at least the DTC60 I run and the HP+ that I have run before as a dual use pad.

Nearly every time I run into someone at the track having issues with their brakes, they are running Hawks.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

For the OP, I would have no problem recommending the HP+ although I will admit, wanting to run an expensive rotor like the giro's on the street while being concerned about a certain pad wearing them more than another does not compute in my simplistic brain.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm going to order a set of GiroDisk rotors and I'm deciding on pads for street use. I want decent bite when cold and I would rather the pad wear instead of the rotor....so I don't care about dusting. I'm just guessing some pads would wear the rotor more than others
Im finding that the yellows r not that bad on rotors but i have real good cooling too.
My rear rotors have about 25 days and a pad change at 15 days (original set were used) and r only .5mm worn. The front girodisk were used and have 14 days and r .2mm less then when i got them.
Yes street only.... its an 02 cab. I brake hard sometimes (down mountain roads for example) and I sometimes exceed the speed limit (tongue in cheek), but I don't think heat is an issue like on a track. Maybe it is tho....lots of turns but hardly ever exceed 80 mph
Since you aren't tracking the car you have alot more options.
If you were tracking it, I would say pagid yellows. I run yellows on and off the track for 2 reasons.
(1) I know I will stop.
(2) I don't want to have to go thru the process of bedding in the brakes every time I change the pads from street to track. Quite frankly, the longer I own the car, the more simple my approach.
In my experience, the yellows have proven to be more abrasive and have a tendency to chew down the rotors faster. But in reality, a bigger set of rotors will last substantially longer than eom sized rotors regardless if you run a more abrasive pad or not.
The guys will give you alot of street suggestions depending on if you are looking for less dust or more stopping power. Not to mention cheaper than yellows, which are very expensive, but worth every penny.
But I have to confess, I am a brake nut. Once you have better braking, its tough to accept anything less.
I don't normally recommend Hawks for anything but street driving (and I don't list them on the site) but the hawk HPS would probably be a good fit for you. They are reasonably priced and the wear is decent.
Fronts HB550F.634 - $188.89
Rears HB290F.583 - $184.89
Both are in stock. I am a Girodisc dealer as well if you still need discs.
You could also try the Ferodo DS2500:

FCP1308H - $249.67
Both of these are in stock as well.

Too many bad experiences with them. Nearly every time I run into someone at the track having issues with their brakes, they are running Hawks. Additionally, while they are cheap up front, they wear quickly and eat rotors. This isn't to say other folks have had great experiences with one Hawk compound or another, or that they do in fact work well for people. My experience has just been negative too many times for me to recommend them anymore. With that said, I have used a few of their street compounds (for street use only) and really liked them. I'm also a Hawk dealer, fwiw.

I didn't find the wear bad at all, I think last year I went through 2 sets of pads, each swapped out with around 50% life left and 1 set of Sebro rotors in approx 25HRS, about 20HRS of on track time. With the free rotor swaps from

I was not, and am not hugely concerned with rotor wear but still found it to be surprising how nicely the brakes consumables treated me.

I took my 981 Boxster S to a DE in March at Carolina Motorsports Park, which is hard on brakes. I swapped the OEM pads for Ferodo DS2500's. They were perfect for the track, but are not noisy, very linear, and produce little dust. They are in the car for the long term.
