Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

996TT 6MT I am sending my cab roof lift cylinders to be rebuilt and the guy told me I could still drive the car by relatching the hood with the button after attaching the cables to the ball joints but it doesn't work. Is there a way to close it manually so I can drive the car over the next 2 weeks?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone? My car is stuck in the driveway at this point.

POST 3Original post

You can close it manually using the procedure in the owners manual. There is a tool behind the rear panel/seats. It is basically a long Allen wrench. 5 or 6mm I think. You use it to open the valve on the hydraulic pump, disengage the drive on the clamshell, lower the side flaps, and crank the front latch down. Once you do that everything gets out of wack and you need to resync the top using a Durametric program or the dealership computer. there are multiple threads on this forum that cover the procedure and subsequent repairs.
