- My usual Porsche mechanic says try disconnecting the O2 sensor, dealer says he doubts that has anything to do with it.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect o2 sensor, dealer says he doubts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect o2 sensor, dealer says he doubts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

2.Disconnect both vario-cam solenoids and drive for a while ( long enough to see if the fuse stays good) then reconnect vario-solenoid bank 1 and repeat road test, if ok ,reconnect vario-solenoids bank 2 and repeat road test.

Get it fixed ASAP because if the ohms are less than 13ohm, it not only will blow fuse C2, but will place a high load on the driver transistor in the DME and can burn it out..Then you will have a DME to repair on top of a vario-cam solenoid..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Folks,
2000 996, 60K miles. Can anyone help?
- Recent tune, new fuel pump
- Car starts and idles fine then stalls at slow speeds then..
- Continuous blown C2 fuses (ignition, O2 sensor, fuel injection on this circuit)
- Getting codes for all 6 fuel injectors
- No check engine light
- Slight RPM oscillations
- My usual Porsche mechanic says try disconnecting the O2 sensor, dealer says he doubts that has anything to do with it.
- Could it be the DME?
Help!!!
Any aftermarket accessories by yourself or prior owners. These often involve "creative" wiring which result in odd symptoms. Any recent work to the car's electrical system?
U probably have a short in the harness. Maybe mice in the engjne bay. U need to inspect everything. U can spend some time with a multumeter and track it down. Obviously its after the c2 fuse. The porsche dealer should have a "break out" box that plugs inbetween the harness and the dme and can verify inputs and outputs but not sure this will help.
The dme should not nuke fuses like this but a short can kill a dme. Ecu Doctors in FL will test the dme for $99.
Also remove the tune until its solved as it maybe contributing to the problem.
If you have a coupe theres a relay panel between seats and rear window. Pull off the insulated shelf and take the cover off the relay panel. Bottom row second from right is the FIO relay. This could be going bad. Not very expensive either. If not, always nice to have an extra relay handy.
Fuse C2 sends 12v to 6 injectors, the MAF Sensor, the purge valve, the 02 heaters, 2 change-over valves, pluss both vario-cam solenoids, the DME controls the ground-sides to these components to activate them..
I'll give 10 to 1 odds that one vario-cam solenoids is shorted.( needs to test at 13ohm).. I have seen this before and was a real bitch to figure out because it stores no codes and can happen randomly..
Several routes you can go to verify/diagnose this one::
1.Go straight to vario-cam solenoid ohm test..( should get 13 ohm)
2.Disconnect both vario-cam solenoids and drive for a while ( long enough to see if the fuse stays good) then reconnect vario-solenoid bank 1 and repeat road test, if ok ,reconnect vario-solenoids bank 2 and repeat road test.
Get it fixed ASAP because if the ohms are less than 13ohm, it not only will blow fuse C2, but will place a high load on the driver transistor in the DME and can burn it out..Then you will have a DME to repair on top of a vario-cam solenoid..
