I know how to change the speed and odometer to MPH from KM/H but I cannot for the life of my figure out how to change the OBC settings so I can get temp in Fahrenheit not Celsius, distance to empty in Miles not KM, etc..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently bought a 2001 996 that was built for the Canadian market - while the dials show MPH, the On-board computer is in km/h. I know how to change the speed and odometer to MPH from KM/H but I cannot for the life of my figure out how to change the OBC settings so I can get temp in Fahrenheit not Celsius, distance to empty in Miles not KM, etc.. Anyone got a way to do this or is this something I will have to have a dealer do (assuming they can) when I bring it in for service? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

The dealership or an indie shop into Porsches has to reprogram the cluster from ROW (rest of world) to USA. It might also be possible with a Durametric, but I dont know. I found this out when I asked the dealership to turn on the outside temp display when they were programming a new key for me, and it came on in F not C (Im in Canada and my car is a US import). Itll cost another hour of programming time.

They must have changed it with the .2, as my 2003 can swap between metric and Imperial using nothing but the OBC

Whatever method you use might work for the OP! Post it up! Perhaps my situation only applies to cars without the OBC stalk.

POST 5Original post

turn and hold the right side/clock **** counterclockwise, will change units

Ahh! With the OBC stalk, you just push forward, and select IMP/MET
