I used the Bosch when I swapped mine last winter (2004 C4S).

Hopefully the order i placed last night gets filled, otherwise i might have to wait and replace next year sometime.

Was just trying to replace while i was replacing the AOS.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am going to replace my AOS with a UAOS and was going to replace the fuel injectors (35k miles) on the assumption they were $40 ea on pelican parts. I see they are out of stock and the Porsche OEM is $337 each. Quite a big price difference! Is it realistic to get the injectors for anywhere closer to the $40 each? Can the original injectors be service anywhere?
What's wrong with using the OEM Bosch injectors for $40? They show in stock when I search.
I'm not sure this is an area where you need to pay the Porsche tax. I used the Bosch when I swapped mine last winter (2004 C4S). They've been fine.

The only expensive injectors are for people with a 3.4L mk1, which use a different and more expensive style, but not ours.
Billy is right. You can always find the Bosch fuel injectors for a good price somewhere. In addition to Atlanta you can also look at FCP, Sunset, suncoast, Gaudin, Pelican, LN Engineering, EBC, EBS, Rockauto, Getporscheparts, and plenty of others.
Some of these shops will price match.
I am sure there are even more suggestions on the way.
The opposite is true for my 99. The factory Porsche are half the price of the Bosch per Pelicans website. $101 vs $226. Not sure how that is possible??

The newer EV6 style injectors are really hard to find right now. Lots of sources showed them but when you ordered them they were not in stock with no ship date from Bosch. After much searching I did find 6, ordereing 1 from one source, 2 from another source and three from antoher sources. Price varied from about $40 to About $100 but I did manage to find 6. Last spring throe was a source on eBay that had 6 for under $200.
Crap. Auto Atlanta just came back and now say they dont have the Bosch injectors in stock and gave me options for Ultra-Power brand for $29.50 ea or Standard Motor Products for $140 ea. Anyone heard or recommend these. Im inclined to just stick with my current injectors.
I have seen a huge variability on pricing and availability. I have placed order which initially indicated stock but when it came to fulfilling the order told they didnt have stock. Hopefully the order i placed last night gets filled, otherwise i might have to wait and replace next year sometime. Was just trying to replace while i was replacing the AOS.
I didn't get my order in on time. Just received the following email.
Hi Anthony,
Unfortunately we ran out of the injectors. I am not sure what happened but a bunch of people placed orders for those on the same day. We should have more coming in the next few weeks. I refunded your payment.
I hope others of you were more lucky.
I was just about to give up when i saw PelicanParts listing the Bosch injectors again. I ordered yesterday and just received confirmation my order will be shipped out Monday. If you are still looking get in touch with them and they might still have some left.
No one has these injectors at a reasonable price at the moment. Since Bosch = OEM I'll have to wait. In the meantime, cleaning and resealing is the next best option.
Dang. I answered my own question above and just placed my order with Pelican. Their website says theyre available to ship in 6 days. Did they give you any more info? Id be ok waiting a little if theyre back ordered.
Since I'm doing an engine rebuild, I need to buy these, and RM, Pelican, and others have been too hit and miss. Too many orders I have submitted and then canceled. So I bit the bullet and ordered through europa parts at $42.95 each,
https://www.europaparts.com/fuel-inj...660612200.html
. I tried to have them price match with the others and wouldn't do it due to the others being out of stock.
I thought I'd update this thread as I'm now actively shopping for injectors. Apparently when you have your engine re-sleeved, LNE makes it very clear that new injectors should be used. Now only Pelican has them at a reasonable price. What used to be 47 each is now 62 each. Anyone else know where to buy them w/o such an inflated cost? Otherwise I'l be forced to rebuild my old ones. 997 ones fit?
No he was saying $90 extra for 6 at pelican vs the lower price. Pelican doesn't have them in stock anyway.
LN had them about a week ago $225 for a set. Not anymore.
It's a get it while you can market. I am saving all of my used parts just in cash. Maybe Tex will give us a crash course on how he manages his inventory. We may all need it for a while longer untill the supply chain opens.
997/M97 injectors fit and work but they will run rich. 330cc vs 260cc for 996. 996.1 flows at 240cc if I am not mistaken !

Rebuilt injectors are a waste of money change them with new only and don’t worry about them for years
with bore scoring a possible effect from the rebuilds why take the chance??
Well that would be the plan if they were available. I'm not sure why you would say that rebuilding would be a waste. Did you have a bad experience? Curious to hear your input in more detail.
The problem I’ve had is the process is not documented you don’t know if all injectors flow at same rate
plus the fact that Jake stated that it’s better not to use rebuilds
again why take the chance on a new rebuild
The person with the most experience working on the M96 engine (more than everyone on here combined) has stated that you should never use rebuilt fuel injectors.
Its a shame hes no longer on here to give an answer thats based on his years of experience.
Sadly it probably wasnt worth paying for the privilege of arguing with people who have no real world experience who think they know everything.
I prefer new over rebuilt any day of the week. Sourcing the parts has been challenging. I'm still about a month or two before I'm at that stage of my rebuild so I'll keep holding out hope but will rebuild mine as well. It's only 90 dollars. I mean that's a tank a gas these days, right? LNE has stated having injectors professionally rebuilt is acceptable.
Sooner or later someone will have them in stock. Gotta handle it like the shortage of ammo. When its in, gotta buy what you can immediately. Yep, I have had enough of the supply chain issues as well.
Is that the standard metric and training ground for supply shortages? Buying ammo? Is buying large amounts ammo something that we are all supposed to already and implicitly be managing in our lives?
Am I the outlier here?
Sorry to interrupt, just an amusing/scary revelation for me. Back to your regularly scheduled program.
Just substitute toilet paper for ammo if that helps.
I havent had any problems getting Porsche parts in the last year(and Ive bought way too many).
Most of the we need to order from Germany its going to be 4-6 weeks ends up being less than 2 weeks.
There was a run on ammo and firearms in the US as the admin was changing coming into 2020. Common occurrence during party change due to fear of restrictions being put in place. Suffice to say, there wasn't enough ammo available to meet the demand in the common sizes. Part production slowdown due to covid shutdown, part increased demand. Yeah, it was widespread. But you could eventually get what you wanted, but you had to be quick or it would be sold out. Just like various 996 parts.
His response on #16 is what made me search new only and original 996.1 is the hardest and most expensive but again not worth my engine a few hundred difference
