Im not using APR bolts for the head, I have new OEM for that but it seems like the consensus is to use upgraded bolts for the bearing carrier.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive decided to stop trying to save money on my rebuild, which has presented another problem. Supply chain issues... The last piece to the puzzle are the main bolts. Cant seem to find them anywhere. Some vendors say they might ship at the end of June (thats not too bad) but most are saying August. Are there any substitutes that are better than stock?

POST 2Original post

There is a massive shortage of higher end alloys everywhere,, LOTS of mis labeled and counter fit bolts out there.. August is actually very good. <yikes>

POST 3Original post

If you are referring to the head bolts, you might consider researching some dialogue on this site about reusing the stock head bolts. When I rebuilt mine, i came across a post (I believe by skip/porschetech3) that Porsche lists those as reusable. I contacted a very well know rebuilder about doing just that on my rebuild and his response was that we was fine with reusing stock head bolts. This differs from LN's recommendation (I'm pretty sure) but that's what I ended up doing.

Thanks for the input! Im not using APR bolts for the head, I have new OEM for that but it seems like the consensus is to use upgraded bolts for the bearing carrier. Thats what Im having a hard time finding.

POST 5Original post

i went through this 6 months ago. I found a set in Great Britain from Design 911. They were more expensive, but they had them ( https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod1...urce=doofinder ). However; a few builders stated that the factory bolts were fine for this application. The only bolts that they suggested that needs to be replaced with ARP bolts were the rod bolts.

POST 6Original post

Been going through this waiting game myself the last 6 months , I called ARP a couple of months ago and was told the carrier bolts had just gone into production and should be available in late June or July .

Thanks! Ill give them a call tomorrow.

Hopefully that will remain true. I ended up placing an order through Jegs, they are telling me they will ship on June, 22. Fingers crossed.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, Ive exhausted every source l can find, including out of the country. Cant find any. ARP is saying maybe September. Emphasis on the maybe. So, Im boxing everything up and will resume the rebuild whenever, if ever, main bolts are available. such a bummer.

POST 10Original post

I'm in the same boat, been waiting 6 months, not sure the wait is worth it the only advantage is that the ARP bolts are reusable but I have no plans to do this again, I haven't heard of any failures of the factory crank carrier bolts so they seem to be more than adequate for the task .
