Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Adjust relay' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust relay' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
a pulse to 85/86 will switch the contact between 30 and 87a to 87, and it will stay that way (even if you disconnect the vehicle battery), until another plus is applied.

i used spade connectors, and mounted it in one of the free spots of the relay try using a plastic zip tie.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Folks, can someone with a bit more electrical experience check if this will work?
Background
I have a switchable exhaust and would like to fit a PSE button for an OEM install. The button should switch the exhaust to quiet.
The PSE relay (996.618.980.03) has a speedometer link to quite the exhaust at low speed, obviously I don't need that function and the relay is very expensive (200 quid)
The Heated Window Relay (996.615.117.00) will power the LED on the button when pressed so looks like I can maybe use that. (35 quid)
Looks to me like the PSE uses the relay as a switched earth?
I have removed the speedo link from position 6.
Heated window relay pin out:
And adjusted for new relay
Any comments welcome. Anyone know of another standard relay that will fit in the relay tray with Porsche carrier? is it a DPST?
I can possibly help by explaining how the PSE button functions in my 2002 targa with PSE. The factory PSE 'switch' is more of an on/off toggle. Pressing the raised side of the button does nothing; pressing the depressed side turns the 'sport' mode off/on. Default is on. When the 'sport' mode is enabled the LED in the switch is off; in 'quiet' mode the LED is on. Switching the ignition off/on resets the PSE 'sport' mode.
EDIT: Oh and you are not alone in hating the speed-related nanny. There is thread on here about cutting a resistor inside the PSE relay to stop that function.
you do not need a special relay to power up the LED. just split the relay output. you will need make sure the output to activate the solenoid valve is negative.
i opted to use
Durite 0-728-02, as this relay is
mechanical self latching. which means that it will always stay in the position you left it, regardless of the ignition switch position.
here is a diagram i made myself incase i will need to go in there again.
Excellent, much appreciated.
I'll go for the durite then, even better.
Your note says it mounts in the relay tray, did you use a Porsche plug? Or just spade connectors from underneath?
As you can see from the drawing, the pins pattern of the Durite is not aligning with a standard relay socket.
i used spade connectors, and mounted it in one of the free spots of the relay try using a plastic zip tie.
Is that a self latching relay as well?
just to clarify. The 728-02 has a mechanical lock that Keeps the position of the contacts regardless of if the relay is powered up.
a pulse to 85/86 will switch the contact between 30 and 87a to 87, and it will stay that way (even if you disconnect the vehicle battery), until another plus is applied. So no matter what, the exhaust valve will always keep its last position.
if the 728-63 is acting the same, that would be a better alternative. From looking at the spec, it looks like standard relay.
keep us posted.
