Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This was the easiest repair ever. They actually popped right in, and both driver and passenger mirror lights activated on flip up the first time. The covers came with some hardware but none of it was needed. Get them here if, like me, your 996 or 986 sun visor vanity mirror covers have been abused - https://www.ebay.com/itm/353812707115 . Good product! YMMV of course depending on whether your mirrors are lit or not, and where the covers 'broke'.

POST 2Original post

Just ordered one. Although the sun visors are barely functional in the 996 I don't want to see myself in the mirror when the visor is down!

POST 3Original post

I used this (x2): Amazon Amazon Just installed them earlier today, and they worked great!

POST 4Original post

Does this fix the issue where the spring doesn't work? Mine look fine, they open and the lights work but they just flop around.

I don't believe so. My covers were simply missing. You might need the whole assembly, the mirror and the cover. The mirror assembly pops into / out of the visor. You'll need a plastic pry tool, or just your fingers will do it.
