Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I finally got the chance to buy some OEM porsche twist 18x7.5 and 18x10 for a good deal but....there was a twist. :sly: only one of the rims can in good condition....the other three were crap. (Here is the one that was in decent condition) (Here are the rest that had curb damage on the sides) But LOOK at this one I was like...what the heck happen to this wheel. The gashes it had were almost 1/2 inch deap and where like 1in in length. (sorry for the crappy Picture) So I got to work and started fixing them. 1st. i bought all the supplies (bondo, wurth paint and clear coat, and the sandpaper [400-1000]) 2nd. I busted my butt cleaning and cleaning and cleaning 3rd. I busted my butt sanding and sanding and sanding 4th. I took a break  5th i applied bondo and.....sanded and sanded and sanded and 6th I enjoyed what I did..... Hope you likey These have been sitting the the garage for a week now and all i am waiting for is for the adaptars to come in. Im runnign 25mm and 30mm Mean while(untill next week when Im putting them on)... Im rocking my 16" that no one has bought. Enjoy

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A big thank you to all of you that helped me complete this job in this forum by giving me good info.... couldnt do it with out you.

POST 3Original post

They look great. Three out of my four twists show slight curb damage. I've been debating attempting to repair them myself vs. paying roughly $50 to $70 per wheel to have an expert do it. How hard was it? Mostly just elbow grease, or did it require more skills and knowledge?

POST 4Original post

Wow - those look great. And that looks like a LOT of work!

POST 5Original post

you were motivated!.... good for you and your car!.... great job man!

POST 6Original post

Nice job on your wheels, plus you did it yourself....priceless. Nothing like standing back to take in all the prep work and painting to admire a job well done.

POST 9Original post

Good job. What was the total amount of time from start to finish?

POST 10Original post

Nice job, they came out great and the satisfaction is priceless!

POST 11Original post

Wow, fantastic work. I might have to try and fix my twists.

POST 12Original post

Terrific work! What kind of primer and paint did you use and where did you get it - did you go with a clear coat? Any recommendations on the bondo, or was that off the shelf Pep Boys stuff? Very nice! Rudy

POST 14Original post

They look good. Should be sweet on the Jetta!

POST 15Original post

WOW! If there is a will, there is a way. Nice Job.

i would have to say about an entire day including prepping (having them clean) and giving them there first coat of paint.. The longest part is cleaning them and sanding...painting them is a peace of cake.

I bought the bondo from autozone. I did buy the paint (wurth) and clear coat from pelicanparts. Bondo isnt that bad and it should be the same that they sell in pep boys. for what?? fixing some more?

POST 19Original post

looks great. With all the work you put into those wheels, you will really be pissed off if you hit a curb.
