He over-sized for a Tervis, but it didn't work out.
I've owned my 2002 Cabriolet for just a couple of weeks and I've been sprucing up little things since I got it. Replaced the faulty HVAC LCD successfully yesterday. While out there I was asking myself why Porsche would've let the cupholder hit the steering wheel when fully extended. Imagine my suprise when I took a look at the manual .pdf (the car didn't come with a hard copy in the glove box).
Anyone have a LHD OE cup holder for sale? I don't want to do the full DIN swap I've seen out there . If I'm going to relocate the HVAC it would be for a double DIN screen and that's down the road.
your cupholder is backwards, it should open and point to passenger, not the driver, as shown in the owner's manual. Not sure how that's even possible unless your cupholder was meant for a right hand drive european version?
Sorry, see now you're looking for a LHD. Didn't read your post carefully enough
Don't check eBay.
Used ones go for the price of a new one.
New ones are crazy expensive.
Mine has lots of broken pieces, most of which are missing, but it still works to hold my Tervis.
Cans and water bottles, not so much.
My son made me a customized ash tray cup holder. (He modified the one that WAS on Thingiverse)
He over-sized for a Tervis, but it didn't work out.
BUT, it does work perfectly for a can in a koozie, so I'm happy.
No help for the OP, but the cup holder is really a crappily designed piece of sh*t (I know, a little redundant). I wouldn't trust a Dixie cup in that thing. I fought with mine to get to release and fought with it to close. It's so flimsy I don't dare use it.
I hear ya, I'm just one of those guys that wants things "right". The fact is I won't use it much at all either. I've always found the best thing to avoid distracted driving is a 6MT - and that goes for a drink as much as it does a cell phone. This conversation is why I refuse to pay the kind of pricing I've seen on eBay. Looking for someone that isn't looking to get rich and just has this dash-filler laying around.
That cupholder is from a British 911.and be careful on eBay with this piece they often have missing or cracked parts' just got a new one for around $320.00.
Larry here is what I used. Came with fantastic step by step instructions. Worked first time. Took less than an hour start to finish.

Pete, it would if I wanted to relocate a bunch of stuff. Frankly I'd rather look at the slimmer half DIN piece that I'm not using than this full DIN piece that required a bunch of relocation. Thanks though.
