Got the boxes already with the "Gundo Hack" and the cats are used ones but standard due to the yearly emission testing which is almost impossible to pass with 200 cell catalytic converters.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I am about to replace the the very rusty manifolds on my 996 and not sure if I should go with second hand ones or with stainless steel. Looking through ebay I found 3 stainless steel ones with ranging from 150 up to 350. (350 would be on the top end of my budget) Second hand ones are around 200 from the UK. My knowledge of "metal" very limited and for me they all look just "shiny" but no idea what the difference might be in these 3. Also, is there a risk that these dont fit properly and the workshop has additional work to make them fit? (The ads always state "straight on fit", but still asking) http://www.ebay.de/itm/Porsche-911-9...item3cbec1ec38 http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Exhaust-Manif...item2ecf0d69d5 http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Porsche-996-9...item19f5ee497a

POST 2Original post

The one from jdmhonda looks good to me... go to your local dealer and get new bolts for the headers... gaskets, bolts for the headers to cats, same gaskets and them do the work yourself! If you can get the car up a few inches (centimeters) you have plenty of room to do it... The only problem you might have (will have) is the three bolts on each side that connect the headers to the cats... they ALWAYS rust up solid and need to be cut off or sheered off. Save yourself some time and sanity by just cutting them off. Also use genuine Porsche bolts and gaskets... you never know what the quality of the stuff is when you get it for free... Good luck... post some pics please!

POST 4Original post

I can sell you a set of good used oem exhaust manifolds for 200 shipped. I also have a set of oem manifolds that have been port matched and rewelded on the outside of the runners. It is required to reweld them to allow port matching. 350 shipped for those. The manifolds from ebay are of low quality stainless that will rust out and have also been said/documented of a 10 hp loss.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Trendy, I guess (hope) you are talking US$. Would you mind sending me some pictures from the rewelded ones?
