Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 02 C4S (purchased on BAT a few months back) came with a replaced CDR-220 (the original wasn't working). The new one works fine, but has some dead pixels in the display. The seller was kind enough to include the original CDR-220 in the trunk for me. My question is this: Can I swap the faceplate from the "dead" one to the one that is currently in there? Assuming there are no dead pixels, would it actually function? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Try it? Should be an east swap since the faceplates are removable.

POST 3Original post

Yeah if you pop the faceplate down and tug gently from the right side it pops out. CDR 220 and CR 220 faceplates are compatible. You can also try removing the one with dead pixels and cleaning the contacts with alcohol and a cotton swab if you want.

POST 4Original post

I don't remember if the four-digit radio code (anti-theft) is stored in the faceplate or the head unit. Might want to be sure of that when making a swap.

I believe it's in the head unit itself. But you may be promoted to enter it if you swap the face plate

POST 6Original post

Becker Autosound (the US distributor) has a service where they send you a refurb faceplate that works and you send back your old one and they refund you a core charge, so you should be fine to swap faceplates.
