Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
Since you see a plastic reservoir with fluid inside, then that NIPPLE is most likely the fill hole.
Leading evidence: 'fill hole' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'fill hole' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill hole' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
The fill hole is on the end of the plastic reservoir on the pump.

Perhaps they changed the pump design for 2004, or maybe you have a retrofit repair???

I have the same on my 04, at the end of the plastic reservoir you will see a allen plug, remove the plug after you set the top in the middle of travel, use a turkey baster with a tube to fit in the hole and fill.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi my top has been opening and closing poorly lately so based on reading went to check and add fluid. When I opened the back I did not see what I expected. My car is a 2004 911 cab. I expected to see a Vertical aligned pump (brass color). What I see is a horizontal. Was this modified? If not do I just add fluid through the nipple in the clear plastic side?
Yes that is what I thought as well. The issue is mine does not look like that. That piece with the green arrow is not there. Instead a part that looks like the second picture I sent is.
I think you are completely missing it. I see the part with the green arrow in your picture, just to the right of the piece you are showing in the stock photo.
I should not have included that first picture. I was trying to say this is what I expected to see but it was not there. I then included the stock picture to illustrate what I was seeing. I had closed the top back up. I will go take an actual picture. Sorry for the confusion and I do appreciate the help. Will take about 30 minutes.
Cannot seem to make out where the NIPPLE is or how it looks like on your PUMP. Possible to post a picture of THE NIPPLE? ....oh dear, keeping fingers crossed this stays on topic
My hydraulics are the same... horizontal and not vertical. Uk 997 2005 2S ... did you complete the job and if so where did you fill? I do have an hexagonal screw in the centre but your post as made me doubt if this is the full point!
I have the same on my 04, at the end of the plastic reservoir you will see a allen plug, remove the plug after you set the top in the middle of travel, use a turkey baster with a tube to fit in the hole and fill. easy peasy with the turkey baster, PIA otherwise.
di you ever figure this out? I am in the same situation. Tried to remove the allen screw and use a syringe, but the tube will not go in far enough and the oil seems to be spilling out !!!!!
