If you can get the seats in the car and hook up the connections you should be able to move the seat back forward using the power functions before you actually install the seats.

I bought a set of 996 seats to replace the exist fixed back seats that I have.. The seller had manually reclined the seat all the way back. I understand that it is easier to install the seat if in upright position. How can I manually bring the seat back up. Is there a certain pin the connector to do this? Is it just a matter of connection 12 volts somewhere and use the seat controls?

I have a 2000 C4 and had the seats out over the winter. I did have the seats folded forward just to try and make it easier to lift them out of the car. If you can get the seats in the car and hook up the connections you should be able to move the seat back forward using the power functions before you actually install the seats. I think there are two sets of wires/connectors. Do you have pics or instructions as to what goes where? I didn't think it was particularly intuitive.
