Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have done it before using the factory plate and table.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have just put C4 on jackstands in the garage for a clutch and an oil leak.
Has anyone dropped the engine W/O the trans. I would lke to take a look at the engine out of the car for cleaning and maintenance.
The first pic.
I think you will have a very difficult time dropping the engine without either dropping the trans first or dropping the engine and trans mated as a unit.
Is the trans. on the ground already? I have done it before using the factory plate and table. It was a little unstable compared to the engine and trans unit together, but it can be done. What kind of jack setup are you using? If anything I think it will be a little nose heavy, so you might put the flywheel back on if you were in there for a RMS. By the way did you ask the KITTY CAT what he thought???

I would trade that for a pit or lift right now
I have a lot of oil in the AOS area that I want to investigate. Do they leak externally too? I changed the boot a couple of years ago. I see oil above that though.
I have decided to take the engine and trans out together. Last night I removed all of the plastic shields under the car and found some seepage at the front differential also so that is going to get resealed.
I was amazed at how clean the car is underneath, there is no corrosion even though it was driven year round as a daily driver in PA for two years of it's life. Every screw so far has come out buy hand after loosening. Kudos to Porsche for it anti-corrosion efforts.
Actually my car is 14.5 in the front and 16.5 in the rear but those rear stands are at the lowest they will go. I can easily go up another 2" to fix the clearance problem. I am going to move it further into the garage anyway to get more romm in the rear so the engine trans can be behind the car and I can close the door.
I will also build some cradles for the engine and trans to support them with two jacks.
Brad, what do you guys do to repair it if there are no seals available. Just drop a new diff in? Is there something very special about those seals? I usually just call my bearing suppler to get items like rather than go to the dealer.
Brad,
The output flange, one side only.
Also, if I rock any wheel, the trans/diff has play to the front output shaft with a small internal clunk both directions. Is this normal? I could hear it when I drove it too, just did not know where it was coming from. Obviously it happens when I let off the gas and get back on it, the sound was not scary, just there. I thought it was a cv or a driveshaft connection.
The car has 120,000 miles on it and shifts perfectly.
Thanks for your input.
Out put seals should be availlable, havent done one in a long while though that may have changed. We just put a whole diff in one with fluid leaking into the input shaft and coming out the weep hole.
there is always some play, and the noise is there if you look for it, 120k miles maybe a little more play then normal. I have never seen one fail besides the leaks and theres a few turbos running round with 150k+
