This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
Picked up my 1999 996 Carrera end of July. Love it. Great car. However I'm painfully aware of the fact that the wrong mechanic can do more damage than good. For example right now I've got the engine light on for the infamous P1124 and P1126 alerts. Took it to my mechanic, he replaced an O2 sensor, great, all fine. 800 bucks for that plus reverse switch, oil change and spark plugs and tune up. However then the light comes on and I find out through here that there are four of those sensors and it's not the only thing that could be the prob. So.......
I live in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Would any of you be able to suggest a trustworthy, but also knowledgeable in all things Porsche mechanic for me to take mine too?
Thanks ahead of time. Pic of my 996 attached. Most fun with four wheels. Just wish Florida had more corners...or even any corners.

This is Fred. Yes I named him Fred.
Personally I go to KMW Motorsports (Kevin Wheeler) in Boca. But I have heard good things about Foreign Affairs Motorsports which is more down your way. The owners Bob and son Bobby Varela are very active with the Gold Coast chapter of the PCA. If you aren't a member I strongly encourage it. Lots of great events and great people. Gorgeous 996 you got there!
If you by South Florida you mean Miami the try:

That is most definitely a set of keys on my roof
Thanks all, much appreciated. I think the closest bet for me are the Boca ones, as I'm in downtown Fort Lauderdale now. It's a great car, and I've got some updates in the works for it, but first up is a few months of watching it, and paying attention to it, to make sure nothing world ending is wrong.
I'm lucky to have picked up a 1999 996 that is in nearly perfect condition externally, and internally. Just need a new wheel as the one I have is worn to bits and looks like crap.
Again many thanks, and have a great weekend. Beers on me if any of you are downtown FLL
Michael
