I've been looking for a better deal on used on here, eBay, and Craigslist, but everything is turning up wrong size, or tires too old/worn, or the price differential vs new just isn't enough for me.

The recommended wheel and tire sizes are different for the C4S, so just switching tires on my existing rims doesn't seem to be a good option.

I'm tempted to get black just as a change of pace from my normal wheels.

My fast apporaching fallback is just to order a set from Tire Rack, already mounted on their 'Cup 4' rims for a little over $1800 shipped.

I agree about cheapest, but any set I've seen for under $1K would need new rubber, and with shipping, mounting, tire disposal, etc.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys
I've been keeping my eye out for a set of winter wheels for my '04 C4S. The recommended wheel and tire sizes are different for the C4S, so just switching tires on my existing rims doesn't seem to be a good option. My fast apporaching fallback is just to order a set from Tire Rack, already mounted on their 'Cup 4' rims for a little over $1800 shipped.

So, unless a set of used turns up - 18x8 and 10x8, 225 40/18 and 265 35/18, with offsets that work on my car in the next week or so, I think i'll be getting from tire rack.
So, the question - I'm not a big wheel guy - I can get the Tire Rack rims in silver or black. I'm tempted to get black just as a change of pace from my normal wheels. Would that look goofy on a black C4S? It's a cab, I have a hardtop, but I'm going to see how long I can go with the top down.
Any opinions or pics appreciated!
Thanks
pf
I agree about cheapest, but any set I've seen for under $1K would need new rubber, and with shipping, mounting, tire disposal, etc. that brings me awful close to the $1800 at Tire Rack! I thought I had a good beater set local in Chicago, but the tires were over 8 years old, which I wasn't too sure about.
I got the black rims from TireRack for my silver 03 C4s coupe as a change of pace. I kind of like the way they look, but love that they don't look bad when I am not able to clean them as often as I would like in the winter. I can send pics next time I am at a computer if you would like to see them.
Here's a pic of my black c4s with black wheels. I have my
winter tires on my stock rims. I like having a different look
for a few months...I see you're here in Chicago, so it is actually more
than a few months here. I'll be switching them out after Thanksgiving. I agree with others: 1. Find the best deal and 2. Go with what you like.
