Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had the car on the rack last week cleaning my wheels and noticed some coolant drips that have been there for some time since it looked like stagnates dangling.

Since you own a shop I assume you have a Airlift for filling the coolant....if you don't get one.

I'm going to attempt to drop the motor in my 996 this coming week to repair a manifold leak.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All -
I'm going to attempt to drop the motor in my 996 this coming week to repair a manifold leak. I had the car on the rack last week cleaning my wheels and noticed some coolant drips that have been there for some time since it looked like stagnates dangling. It looks like it is coming from the intake manifold on the front left. This would probably be the reason for my engine light on the past several months with a minor evap leak code. I replaced the cracked oil filler tube and replaced gas cap to no avail. Next week while dropping the motor I was going to do some preventative maintenance as well. I own a Midas auto store on 90th St in Scottsdale, AZ, so I will have it on the rack for easier lowering. We typically do not pull motors and this will be my first for a Porsche, so I was hoping for some input on prepping to be dropped. It actually looks pretty easy after looking at everything but still would like some guidance or tips for any portion of this, specifically the prepping. I will have it on the rack so I have plenty of clearance underneath.
PS: Any local fellow Porsche owners are always welcome to stop in anytime. I am on-site every day and do have a few Porsche owners that we routinely do oil changes and minor maintenance on their 996's.
Thanks all....Greg
Pelican Parts has a great DIY on dropping the motor...I did just that last Dec. Drop it with the tranny attached, the air condenser is held in place by 3 bolts. The 2 obvious bolts are easy....the 3rd bolt can be accessed by removing the grommet and temp sensor on the top right side of the intake. Lower the motor a tad to have more room for disconnecting the power steering lines and make sure you drain ALL fluids. The oil is obvious but the coolant can be a bugger to get it all out. Ashai has a great post on a 3 step process for draining the coolant. Since you own a shop I assume you have a Airlift for filling the coolant....if you don't get one.
Can't comment on your symptoms, I'm sure sure others will chime in. Good luck!
