Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all - been a lurker for a while, here is my 2002 Cab. I live in Atlanta and purchased this from a PCA member in south Florida and drove it home. Purchased for $23k with 57k miles on it. The previous owner had recently performed the 60k maintenance. Previous owner also had clear corners installed and had the center console painted the exterior color. It has original IMS which I will have replaced upon replacing the clutch once that goes. He also sanded and polished the exhaust tips which are in excellent condition. Owner gave me a binder of previous maint paper work. Mods that I have done include Fister exhaust (great cheap mod) and app radio 4. I found a great Indy, Solo Motorsports in Atlanta which has competitive pricing. Got the oil changed for $130 yesterday using liqui Moly oil. Highly recommend these guys. Let me know if anyone here in Atlanta is doing the PCA tour to Cloudland Canyon in a few weeks. Happy spring driving.

POST 2Original post

Love the color. Car looks to be in great condition as well. Congratulations!

POST 3Original post

Nice looking cab and great intro. Sounds like a very good deal, welcome.

POST 4Original post

congrats. so did you drive home with the top down?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13141998

Thanks. Part of the way the top was down. The wind deflector works pretty well on the highway.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I also meant to mention the prior owner had the convertible top motor replaced and one of the former owners had the RMS fixed under warranty many years back.

POST 7Original post

Very nice! Welcome and congrats. Looks like you may want to replace your motor mounts. Also, the exhaust tips are chrome and shouldn't be sanded - a chrome polish will do the job. My indie swears by Liqui Moly as well.

POST 8Original post

Very nice looking car and I love the color (bias alert). And +1 on the motor mounts. Easy DIY job too.

POST 9Original post

"New to me" is the best kind of 996! Great looking car. New motor mounts will give you an extra 25 hp at the rears.

POST 10Original post

Great-looking car and sounds like a fantastic buy. Congrats!!!

POST 11Original post

One of the local PCA gold has a lapis blue 996. It's a great color. Looks awesome with that interior. Wish you many miles and smiles...T

POST 12Original post

Great looking P-car and thanks for posting pics right away - welcome to the 996 forum!

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13144062

Thanks! Actually purchased it in August, which per KCattorney is the better time to buy than in spring. Presumably may have been a bit more expensive if I got it during spring. Albeit south Florida where I got it is warm year round...

POST 14Original post

Congrats I have the same color, nothing better to breath the fresh air with a Cab, and the price is a bargain, car looks good!!!!

POST 15Original post

Very nice! We're nearly twins but with different color interiors.

POST 16Original post

Time for a "Show Us Your Lapis 996" thread? I'm in.

POST 17Original post

I'm in too! But haven't taken any good photos of my car in over a year. Guess I have some catching up to do...

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interested also... Good excuse for us all to wash the car and take some good photos.

POST 19Original post

Congratulations on your purchase, Tony. Looks like a great pick up and from a PCA member too! Even better. I'm sure you'll enjoy it very much.

POST 20Original post

Nice! Several years ago, I had a Lapis Blue Boxster, and it's a great color.

POST 21Original post

Nice! Some think a certain shade of red is preferred, but they ARE WRONG!! Lapis rules!
