Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Held off on fishing (quite so much) this weekend to do some maintenance to the niner. Water pump started making a little bit of a noise on Wednesday so I parked it until the parts came in. Did the water pump, low temp thermostat, coolant flush (read a better way to do it with compressed air after I was done ), oil change with Motul 8100 5w-40 to see if it will lessen the start up chain rattle, magnetic oil drain plug and some new Tequipment muffler tips to finish off the look. All pretty straightforward of course. No surprises to speak of. Haven't had a cold start of the motor since oil change to see if it works (my guess is that it won't). BTW... I'd like to kick the Porsche engineers square in the sack for putting that motor mount bracket literally 3/4 of an inch too close to get the water pump out in quick order... oh and a couple of those bolts were a pain also. Otherwise all good. Now it's time to work on the house. Yay remodels. I should have just went fishing. Tarpon are starting to eat. -Mag EDIT TO ADD: Here's a pic of the new tips... they fill out the cutouts much nicer than the standard skinny minnies in my opinion. Good for you! Now about those Tarpon....I was fishing a couple days ago. The tarpon are smart like turkeys.....see them rolling and head to them then they go to where you just came from. Buggers!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Open invite to any rennlist member to come tarpon fishing with me. I'm not a guide (yet) but I go twice a week every week for tarpon or snook. Jumped 12 so far this year. Shooting for 100.

POST 4Original post

I wish right now I lived in Florida. I love fishing. Tarpon would be a blast. Put some photos up of your catch. I scuba dive and the tarpon would follow behind me using my night lights and turn on their sides and snap up smaller fish caught in my beams. They would wait at the pier and follow us out on night dives in Cozumel. Then the tarpon would swim just below my stomach using my lights. Scared the crap, out of me the first time I saw one strike and snap hard on their catch.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That would be awesome to have them swimming around you while diving. I really need to get into that. Here's a little guy caught on New Year's Eve. Right about 180. 6B3A6A9B-B166-490B-85E8-1932AE45A5C2_zpsadxltaup.jpg Most of them so far this year have been juvis but there's been a few adults mixed in.

POST 6Original post

Like the new tips, have been thinking something new too. Tarpon are light up here but we have plenty of redfish and its cousins hanging in NE FL.

Oh, taRpon! Thought you were referring to something else.

POST 12Original post

You got a link to that "compressed air" technique?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

By the way... The Motul 8100 5w-40 absolutely made a big difference in quieting the start up chain noise I had with Mobil1. There is still a little bit there, but I'd say 90% of it is gone and what's left only lasts for a couple tents of a second vs almost a full second before.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

spoke too soon... The chain rattle at start up is back. Weird that it was gone for a few days.

Next tarpon pic will be with no shorts on just for you. I might rock some sandals and socks even.
