Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone happen to know the approximate width of the hoses going into the water pump and thermostat housing ? I'm going to finally replace the pump/thermostat and thought I would try using these fancy constant torque stainless hose clamps, rather than the stock clamps. TIA

POST 2Original post

From here it says the hose clamps #25 are 53 X 12 and the smaller #2 is 49 X 12 http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=105-05 I like those hose clamps. Looks like CT 9428 will work. Let us know the cost and how it works out. Thanks.

POST 3Original post

Why not use the OEM clamps? They are constant torque...you just need the tool from Sears to put them on/off, takes seconds to remove and install them with the tool.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow. Those are clamps worthy of a Porsche! $50 a clamp is a bit out of my budget though. Can I reuse the existing OEM clamps if I get the tool referred to? Have a link for the tool by any chance?

POST 5Original post

We also have them - 999-512-669-09-OEM and 999-512-348-02-OEM . For the #25 clamp I believe you could use this tool: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/cata...WTD102_pg4.htm

POST 6Original post

Here's a link to some pictures....search sears.com for "hose clamp pliers"....they are about $45. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...l#post12253154 <img src=http://audipages.com/911/tn_DSC_8186.JPG>

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually it looks like Porsche has moved to a Screw-type clamp... Old Part Number 99951266909 New Part Number 99951234802 Part Name SCREW HOSE CLAMP

Yes, just get those and keep it simple These are Norma clamps which are used throughout the engine. Excellent clamps as they are smooth so they don't cut into the rubber.
