Leading evidence: 'Use peak' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill system and i am contemplating doing a major flush/' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I use pentafrost by pentosin, but its still kinda expensive.

I did a total flush but used some stuff from Walmart someone here suggested.

Engines in the Macan/Cayenne/Panamera are VAG family engines which the VW/Audi coolant is used when that engine is in the other brand.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I use pentafrost by pentosin, but its still kinda expensive. I think if u shop around its about the same $, i chose the pentafrost because of avalibilty. I buy full strength and cut it with distilled.
Hate to say it but unless you are doing a total system flush of old coolant, do not mix in another type of coolant just to top it off. Certain types of coolants when mixed form a gel like substance...and that is not good. Just get a gallon jug of Porsche coolant and mix it 50/50 with distilled water for topping off. That is the safest route, unless you like to experiment. Cost of owning a Porsche.
Coolant is as important to your engine as oil. Would you dump another brand and type of oil in your engine (other than what you have in there now)? Just saying....
ECS tuning has OE Porsche coolant/1 gallon jug for $37.95. That is not really that expensive.
Suncoast Porsche has OE Porsche coolant/1 Liter bottle for $16.95
The VW/Audi brand of coolant meets the same specs at a lower cost. Engines in the Macan/Cayenne/Panamera are VAG family engines which the VW/Audi coolant is used when that engine is in the other brand. I have been told by factory techs the only difference is what eco specs they meet in production. Since Porsches are only made in Europe they only have to comply with the European laws. VW/Audis are made all over the world so they have to have a formula that can be produced globally. Either way I have been using the VW/Audi coolant in my Pcars for years with no ill effects since I also have VW and Audis around. YMMV
Well that sucks, it used to be about half the price of the Porsche branded bottle. There claims to be an OEM brand Ravenol that is the supplier to VAG. Not sure if that is true or not, but maybe someone can chime in with more info on that brand.
I did a total flush but used some stuff from Walmart someone here suggested. It works fine. It had whatever the stuff everyone told me to use. It's yellow vs red. 1,000 miles in, no problem and was fine during the winter.
Engine oil, I get buying the good stuff. Coolant I'm not so sure.
As mentioned, be careful mixing. That could be disastrous I've read.
I've owned the car for 2 years and have never flushed the cooling system. I've only had to add about 1/2 pint over that time to keep it topped off.
I just recently bought a pressure test/fill system and I am contemplating doing a major flush/fill.
Just trying to find out what's best to use - and hopefully not to expensive as our cars hold 9'ish gallons.
Sweet! So buying two 4-gallon packs of diluted should take care of things...thinking of getting this...

I did a total drain and flush along with a water pump replacement a few years back. I ended up using

&
Coolant.
No issues for me.
Amazon sells this for $21.37 a gallon (for the 50/50 pre-mix). Manufacturer claims it is an exact replacement for the OEM Porsche coolant. I am using it with zero issues.
It is much cheaper to buy full strength/un-diluted. one gallon of distilled water at Walmart is .85 cents. You pay many times that for a little convenience.
I dug deep into this during the winter. The Porsche stuff is likely just Total Glacelf Auto Supra(Total's high end stuff) re-labled. I'm using that without problem(total flush).
Ive been doing a deep dive into this today as I was worried my mild overheating problems might have started right when I added some VAG coolant to the Porsche stuff that was in there.
Reading the labels, the Porsche stuff is identical to the VAG stuff. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF GLYCERIN. VAG has glycerin. And the current spec, G-13, is glycerin based, not ethylene glycol based. I wouldnt use it.
The problem with 30 year old cars is their spec fluids get harder to find. According to the manual, the 968 requires phosphate-free, ethylene glycol based coolant.
The best available today are good ole G-05 and the more recent G40, although G40s spec says Porsches newer than 2005. Im also attracted to Pentosin Pentofrost NF, although I think thats a newer spec, too.
I wish that Pentosin Blue wasnt so much, it costs as much for a 1.5 liter as a gallon of G 05. But thats what I think Im gonna use.
ps: Sorry, but I thought I was in the 968 forum. Never Mind.
Oh my. Left the last air cooled Porsche back in 90. Jumped on a 3x black VW Corrado g60 in 90 which is now the stablemate to the 94 968 coupe acquired last month.
When I saw green coolant in the 968 dealership photos I kinda freaked. In 90 VW switched from (blue) G10 to (green) G11. They had problems with the G11 providing adequate protection with the g60 alloy cylinder head, iron block and paper/fiber head gasket mixed with boost.
By 94 VW got it right with G12 (pink). The g60 has been running G12 since 97 because the fiber head gasket failed and warped the alloy head destroying it thanks to the G11.
Now theres G12, G12+, G12++, G13 & G12evo.
If you mix the wrong ones, like commonly done with pink & purple the brown goo occurs. Other colors combinations cause crystals to form.

Id give that cooling system one hell of a flush, replace the expansion tank and water pump if its due. You need all eyes on the internals. Itd even be worth a radiator swap if its in the budget.
Id go with G12++ (aka G40) or G13 because of their cross compatibility to mix and current availability. I prefer the pink stuff because it gave me no problems for 20+ years. The g60 retained all its original coolant hoses during that time until the current silicone ones were installed in 2010.
VAG likes using the letter G for parts apparently.
