Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace when necessary' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check trans mount' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. old motor mounts, as with old sagging breasts, are best put aside and replaced with younger ones.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

any ideas?
I have a spare set of new RS mounts that I use in mine (over ordered). I got tired of the sloppy hydraulic mounts, makes a huge difference in the driving experience with out the vibration of the aftermarket mounts.
Can't help you with the mounts question. I've only just had these replaced when necessary.
But the shifting difficulty doesn't have to be tired mounts. When was the last time you had the brake/clutch fluid flushed and bled? I have found letting this go just 2.5 years with my Boxster had the clutch hard to enage smoothly and the shifting feeling like I wasn't pushing the clutch in enough. A flush/bleed had a dramatic positive impact on the clutch action and shifting.
Thanks everyone
I didnt know they were that cheap, i thought they were $300 a pair maybe thats just here in Australia, prices seem to be over the top here on parts.
Thanks for the link Above i can afford $80, (in a month or two ) lol
I know it is def the mounts as engine shakes and vibrates , it isnt IMS or anything as all that was done recently by PO including new clutch , cable, first and second gears and LM Engineering IMS as a matter of course not because the IMS failed , Last 2 service reports also makes mention of the worn mounts, so im confident this is what will fix my change and idle problems,
Thanks all!
Dont work to hard
Rob
Be sure to check the trans mount. They also can crack/sag with age. There is a "fill it with RTV rubber (silicone?) hack that you can try. Search around the forum to see it.
I wasn't trying to be a dick, but repairs and money is tight Doesn't mix well with Porsches, these car aren't for everyone. To own one, it takes more than the ability to purchase one if you know what I mean.
There is a difference between being cheap and being cost conscious.
I love my P car but it is the cost of doing business is higher than any sports car I've owned.
Not for everyone? thats a broad statement..
hmmm my last 5 cars have all been Porsches all Daily Drivers from my Carrera 3.0 to my other Daily Driver now a complete restoration project my 1977 930
You should look at my album before you make assumptions
My 1977 ROW 930 is the very last 3.0 built in the world and have been restoring every aspect of her from the ground up in my home garage to which i have turned her from a PO's Cabrilet 964 upgrade back To a Factory Coupe
Repairs don't need to (cost a lot) if you really knew Porsches you would know what i mean
Repairs can be cheap if you do it yourself, my 930 is a testament to that
The 996 is new to me as its first of the watercooled and my new daily driver while i restore the old girl
This is what this site is for, for those of us who like to DIY it is a great Resource
I have a set of tired OEM mounts you can have. You could burn out the rubber and pour urethane into them (same concept as what function first does with their motor mounts).

Sounds quite narrow minded with that sort of comment but ill say that i trust and rely on Porsche's they are cheap to run as opposed to newer cars that have all sorts of things that go wrong with them , If you think they are expensive to run that may be true for you if you pay someone to change your oil, carry out minor repairs, put air in your tires etc
Ill give you an example, my 1977 930 was a daily driver for two years before i stripped her down in that two years i did more than a few interstate trips clocking up around 25000 kilometres, in that time my only costs were 3 full oil changes and one set of spark plugs, so besides petrol it cost me under $400 AUD about $260US,
So i bought the 996 because i needed a daily reliable driver whilst i restore the 930 i really hope is this ok with you, or would you rather i do things differently to appease you?
I do all my own work on my air cooled and water cooled turbos.
But as you've found out, parts can be expensive (and they are actually very cheap in this instance).
If you're the kinda guy to half *** or jerry rig repairs, go forth with your attempt to refresh your motor mounts.
Just to clarify the process of pouring urethane into the gutted OEM mounts, there is to be no burning out of rubber! The mount would become useless at that point, which is why already torn mounts did not qualify as cores.
The process is fairly time and labor intensive, which is the reason I discontinued them. And I personally wouldn't experiment with the process if you're on a budget. Your best bet, as others have pointed out, is to purchase new OEM mounts. You don't want your engine falling out of the chassis.
This is one of those risk-reward scenarios where you're much better off spending a little extra to do it right.
