As I've swapped my entire interior from Red to Black, I've got to source speaker grills anyway.

Delivery to the USA will be expensive im afraid, it will be between 10 and 14 UK depending on what items you need as this changes the size and weight of the package.

* The criteria for the dash speakers relates to the driver side as it has the instrument cluster with the associated cables running underneath the speaker, with a plastic cover to shield them.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys,
I hadn't seen these, but have seen lots of threads on how to hack up speaker grills/mounts for our cars. I emailed back and forth with this guy and he was willing to share lots of information. Super nice guy! He has created these for fun and beer money, not a business, but is willing to sell to anyone. I didn't want to hack away at anything so I have fronts and rear on their way. A little pricey, but slick and easy. I paid around $90 total (includes shipping). The only downside is for people that live in hot climates. He says they are good for no more than 100 degrees C. You can contact him thru FB off his video.

* The criteria for the dash speakers relates to the driver side as it has the instrument cluster with the associated cables running underneath the speaker, with a plastic cover to shield them. If you dont want to trim away parts of that cover (which is pretty easy to be fair) then you are limited to a speaker that has a magnet a maximum of 70mm diameter, the speaker body cant be any taller in total than 43mm, and the mounting surface (with the 4 tabs for screws) can only be 1.5mm in thickness as these adapters are surface mounted rather than from the top, so the tab thickness adds to the total height which is critical here as the space is tiny in there. Or you can trim away that plastic to open it up a bit, but yeah thats work to do...
In the rear of the 996 any 4” speaker will fit so long as it is the coupe.
An example of a speaker that meets the dash criteria is the Kenwood kfc-s106.
If you want to avoid wiring work on the dash and the rear of the 996, then if you can find these in the states it would make life a lot easier as they simply plug into the OEM harness at each speaker.

He also suggested some speakers that he knew would fit with no issue that I purchased. They may not be the best, but for now I'll give it a go. They had decent reviews;

Also, if your speakers are too deep, you can actually mount the speaker in between the OEM piece and the 3d printed part if you dremel away a bit on the OEM bit. That's what I ended up doing to get my Infinity Reference speakers to fit in the dash. Still sounds like absolute crap thanks to the GT3 not having any sound deadening haha.
I recently replaced my front speakers. I considered either his kit or one very similar. In the end, I hacked up the original speaker to fit the new ones. I have absolutely ZERO remorse about said hacking. Nobody will ever see it under the dash, it fits perfectly, and it was FREE (other than the cost of the new speakers). I highly recommend using the stock speakers as a mounting bracket. Just cut away the cone and maybe a few other slight cuts to fit your new speakers. Much easier and more effective than youd think, until you do it.
Installed this weekend and it went flawlessly and so quick and simple. No mods whatsoever. I am happy with the results and not having to get out dremel and other power tools, lol
Front and rear adapters (yes, they are different)
I can attest to the product as well. I bought two kits - one for the front and one for the rear for my '99 996. Worked flawlessly. As others said, you're still limited by the depth but for those of us just looking for a reasonable sound upgrade and don't want to hack up the wiring or original grills, then these turned out to be a great option!
I used Hertz 100.3s in the rear and Kenwood KFC-s1066s in the front. I'm no audiophile but the result is definitely better than the original Nokias.

Photos? As I've swapped my entire interior from Red to Black, I've got to source speaker grills anyway. They seem to all come with the Nokia or Haes speakers and go for about $35-40.
I've got the complete Boxster Red (color is "Boxster Red") in leather. Driver's seat bolster needs attention. It's in my rec room. Red dash is still in car till next week. Interested?
Sorry for stepping on this excellent speaker thread. Ive sent you a pm about the interior parts. Spoiler alert, my original shifter boot and eBrake leather are rough. Pm me if you still want them or any non-speaker questions.
Hello! Mr. Flyfishnick
I found I read all about the speaker's mounts for the Porsche 996 (I have a 4S 2004 and I would like to get better speakers for the dashboard) I would like to get a set of mounts; could you help me with the contact information? I would like to buy them... Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you...
I am located in California...
Best Regards,
Jose
I made some clips out of metal pipe tie down clamps and used them similarly to how this adapter holds the speaker in place. I have a printer and never even thought about making an adapter, doh.
