Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

While driving a 10 mile trip the car suddenly shut down. No lights, no smoke. Turns over fine. Feels like no spark. I park the car, go back the next day and it drives fine. It sits for a week, fires up fine, but when I restart it does the same thing. I popped the clutch a little while turning over and it fires right up. No issues ever before. I did top the oil up a little on the high side before this started happening. 1999 996 cab. any ideas??? Thanks!!!

When your car doesnt start check to see if tach needle moves at all.

POST 3Original post

Hi Tom I just went thru the same thing. See my post below. It could be a number of items. If you did not throw a code, then you may need to go thru a check list of the items described in my post. Mine was likely a combination of corroded starter/alternator cable and crank sensor. I ended up replacing those as well as a new battery and alternator. good luck. POST 4Original post

I had a similar issue, however it was when the air was moist due to rain. Turned out to be the MAF sensor.
