Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi List, on my 996 cabriolet rear interior quarter panel, there is a metal faster that snaps into a small square hole on the body. It is meant to hold the panel to the body. Well mine fell into the square hole. Porsche says you have to buy the entire $900 panel to get the fastener because its not sold separate. Anyone have any ideas of how I can get one? Maybe its used on something else that you can buy separate.

POST 2Original post

it's a 1.00 part @ Road Atlanta http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=807-05 see Panel Fastner

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Okay, thanx. I’ll give it a shot.

POST 4Original post

Just for clarity; On the main drawing, its part #7 and its called clamp if you click on the part #, it comes up as panel fastener, and it is indeed a $1 part! The fact that Porsche (name of dealership?) tried to charge you $900 for the entire panel should be illegal!

POST 5Original post

after further review - the part I referenced came from a coupe the AA diagram for the cabriolet is here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=801-65 and does NOT show the $1.00 fastener while it's likely they are the same part - I would investigate further

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
