The DME can be "divorced" and "re-married" using PIWIS , and the Transducer ( pill) can be read using PIWIS and re-married to another set, but the IMMO cannot be "divorced" or " re-married" using PIWIS....

I picked up 2001 996 project today found out the no start is caused my faulty Immobilizer, I have a m535 with same part number 996.618.262.01 left over from a previous project, Do I need to get it programed to my Dme or is it plug and play? Thank you

No. It needs to be programed to both the key fob and the dme. Although it might work with just the correct key fob?

The DME , Immobilizer , and the Transducer ( the little "pill" in the key fob) are all "married" using a Megamos Encrypto Code..( a very elaborate double hand-shake secret code) ... The DME can be "divorced" and "re-married" using PIWIS , and the Transducer ( pill) can be read using PIWIS and re-married to another set, but the IMMO cannot be "divorced" or " re-married" using PIWIS.... ECU Doctors is the only hacker I know of that can "divorce" a used IMMO and "re-marry " it... ( other than a " new virgin" IMMO programmed by PIWIS) .. The DME, IMMO , and Transducer (pill) all have to be matched/married or they will not work...this is part of the Electronic Security System...
