Atter the intermix of coolant into oil, what should be replaced (in addition to said frozen bearing above)?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am in the middle of assembling a 996 3 chain engine. Everything went well with the short block. Camshaft installation on bank 1 resulted in the crank shaft not turning at all. The cause was found to be the intake cam bank 1, cam variator bearing is frozen on the cam shaft. That big aluminum bearing does not turn by hand on the cam shaft. The one on the other bank freely turns by hand. What would cause this frozen bearing? is there a oil pressure release or something ?

POST 2Original post

My guess is you didn't have the bearing seated correctly (indexed with the dowel pin) during installation and the camshaft's main plain bearing was starved of oil.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did not do the previous installation. I inherited this project after it blew up. I think the bearing has failed due to the intermix. That brings up another related question. Atter the intermix of coolant into oil, what should be replaced (in addition to said frozen bearing above)? The cam adjustors? The valve lifters?
