In the Porsche shop manual it states that after an intermix all chain guides needs to be replaced along with rod bearings ( babbit) ...no explanation is given as to why..

I have this engine that suffered serious intermix of coolant into the oil (no oil in coolant) due to cracked cylinder walls. What are the collateral damages that need to be cleaned and or replaced ? The short block came back from LNE all cleaned and big now, so that is good. Already found one frozen bearing on the cam shaft at the Variocam Plus ajduster.

How long was the intermix in the cooling system? Make sure all the coolant hoses aren�t damaged from oil contamination and the radiators are clear.
