Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's spent it's life in a good environment so it's very clean underneath, no rust.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just bought an 02 cab, 88 k miles. It's cosmetically very good. Basalt black over full black soft leather and optioned out to 98 k new I think. It had a bad AOS when I bought it....leaking to the outside somehow but not ingesting oil (there wasn't much oil in the intake). I changed that and what a pain in the ***! Came out well though. The engine is super quiet. No ticks at all and exhaust is very clean inside so I think the motor is in good shape. It's spent it's life in a good environment so it's very clean underneath, no rust. I've had 3 previous Porsches the last being an 06 Cayman s. This 996 3.6 feels a lot stronger than I expected and stronger than my cayman although its quieter. It seems to have more low end especially. It feels pretty soft and I think the dampers have lost some mojo but I want to rebuild all that anyway. I'm currently cleaning out the radiators and generally cleaning things up and will have some door dings removed. I've been researching coil overs and engine rebuild and THE BEARING. I figure I'll get it tuned up cosmetically and do the suspension/rebuild and hopefully get a few years before any major motor or clutch stuff. I'm leaning toward Ohlins coilovers because of the high speed compression valving they are marketing. I want it stiff but not harsh and not bouncy. Anyway chime in with comments or suggestions
I put HR springs on my 04 and it really made a huge difference! I am about to put MCS coil overs on because I am making it a dedicated track car. However, I was very pleased with the HR springs. They improved handling and floaty feeling went away up front.
Well it's been almost a year and I have just got the car "road worthy". My list of activities reads like "all things that break on water cooled Porsches"
replaced: AOS, broken oil filler tube, front window regulator, rear window regulator, front control arms, rear lower control arms and toe arm, broken vacuum lines/check engine light, front rad fan, water pump (original), engine mounts (stock), drivers seat cushion (broken heating element)
fixed: key fob, non returning turn signal stalk, removed 20 years of dings and door dings (by an amazing artist Steve Kabota), pass door latch (solder connections), improperly installed rear side trim, beep when locking (radio ground), rear wing disassembly, clean and lube
ditched: aftermarket radio, side air bags and dumb Bose subwoofer enclosure
cleaned: radiators debris, water drains, all brakes and wheel wells/suspension parts, interior, engine
upgraded: ohlins coil overs with all the mounting hardware, shift kit from Function First, shift **** from Function First, Ti lug bolts, painted center console in basalt black, side sills in mat black, repainted/repair center caps
I haven't yet detailed the paint to remove the fine scratches. I may install Girodisk two piece rotors because they look so nice. I will also install 200 cell cats and headers I bought some time ago
