Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am not sure if it is the mufflers or the liquid wrench stuff I used burning off.
Leading evidence: 'Use burning off' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use burning off' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just went for 1st ride. I notice it was throatier but not reallly louder. Do they break in. What rpm should I expect to really notice over stock?
Thanks
It does not really break it you should really see how loud it gets the moment you install it. The difference from stock is insanely noticeable. I have done fister myself and the difference is astonishing. After about 2300 rpm you should hear a very slight difference in sound, not neccesarily louder but certainly throatier. After 4000 rpm fister should really pick up, but the difference is not just small, it is insane. Way louder than stock.
Everything I have read has been super positive about them which is why I went this route. I give them a try again in a couple days and see what I think. Either way, they are not coming off now.
I bet the sound inside vs outside the car is probably day and night.
Another question. Anyone know get an initial strange smell when they put on? I am not sure if it is the mufflers or the liquid wrench stuff I used burning off. I did not get them ceramic coated.
At idle, in the car with the windows up, you probably won't notice a big difference. Wide open throttle, and when you downshift, you should definitely notice! Put the windows down in a tunnel and rev it up and you should get a gigantic smile on your face. When driving normally I would say the difference is fairly subtle. If you're not used to the stock note, you probably wouldn't think anything of it. It is under harder driving throttle blips that they really shine. Like you said, other people are going to notice more than you - it sounds GLORIOUS from the outside of the car. I'm pretty sure the smell is normal and its just the paint getting heated up.
Just normal neighborhood driving and it just sounds so good...

I will a couple things about my Fister exhausts on my cars (I have two 996's),
1. I had no problems on a track day at Laguna Seca with the 90db limit. This tells you that it is not insanely loud, but I think it sounds MUCH better than the stock exhaust.
2. The smell lasted for weeks after installing my Fisters.
3. Darren is a great guy and I would recommend this exhaust upgrade with hesitation, especially for the price.

With just the fisters. Sound was incredible outside. Not very loud inside at all, and zero drone. Maybe you should have someone drive your car, with you outside, so you can really hear what it sounds like.

With FVD cat delete pipes. Way more aggressive, but still pretty quiet inside the car. And still zero drone.

Have to say, I just installed a set of Fisters in my 2000 Carrera this week and it’s REALLY loud! Any way to tone it down a bit?
I had a set of Fabspeed Maxflos in a previous 997 and it was barely different than stock sound. But these Fisters are loud!
Here's a video with Fisters, stock cats, and Agency Power headers.

As a point of comparison, here's the same setup but with Agency Power mufflers.

Car is a 1999 C4, rebuilt a few months ago to 3.8L. I had the Agency Power mufflers from before the rebuild, but they droned quite a bit so I thought I'd try the Fisters for awhile. My stock mufflers were in poor condition with internal rattles and rusty seams, so I don't have any recording of those.
