May be something has changed but I used my Carrera for work under their Extra cost Commuter option and had no trouble with my claims and both occurred on commute trips with errands.

I guess I should change because of the higher coverage, plus if I actually get in an accident, Porsche will repair my car with OEM parts.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm insurance shopping and Porsche's own agreed value auto insurance (currently only in WA, AZ, IL, OH, and GA) looks interesting. Has anyone made a claim on a policy with them? Good, bad, ugly?

POST 2Original post

No, but I did call them recently. It's a clearing firm for another insurance company. Here is my summary from another forum. They do use original OEM parts if there is an accident. BTW, I haven't changed anything. Right now I have Hagerty with agreed upon values: 944 Turbo: $15,000 996: $25,000 I just called Porsche, as they offer insurance in a few states including IL. It's based on a base rate + mileage. You actually take pictures of your odometer and then they adjust your policy up/down at the end of each six month period. Here is their quote, and it includes a higher agreed upon value. Thank you for your interest in Porsche Auto Insurance. Like you, we believe that your Porsche deserves coverage fitting of the brand. Per our conversation, we have created a tailored quote for your 1987 Porsche - 944 based on semi-annual mileage of 250 and Stated Value Amount of $20,000, Your rate per mile charge is $.028 or $2.80 for every 100 miles driven. 1999 Porsche - 911 based on semi-annual mileage of 2500 and Stated Value Amount of $30,000, Your rate per mile charge is $.029 or $2.90 for every 100 miles driven. The six-month rate including estimated mileage is $407.53 Coverage includes Liability - 100/300/50 Uninsured Motorist - 100/300/50 Medical Payments $1000 Comprehensive Ded of $500 Collision Ded of $500 Porsche Auto Insurance policies also include generous rental coverage of $125.00 per day, $3750 per accident, and towing to a Porsche Certified Repair Shop in case of an accident. We know value is about more than price, which is why every Porsche Auto Insurance policy includes an exclusive collection of benefits that complement your Porsche vehicle: • Pay-Per-Mile Rates • Porsche Genuine Parts • Privacy-Protected Data Collection • Agreed Value Coverage • Concierge Claims Handling To start your policy, we simply need your initial payment, your signed application, and a photo of your current odometer. The entire process takes less than a few minutes to complete. If you would like to purchase this policy, make any adjustments, or have any questions, please call me at [phone removed] or you can reach me via email at [email removed] . Thank you again for your interest, and safe driving. So Hagerty is $992 for one year ($496), Porsche is $814 ($408). I guess I should change because of the higher coverage, plus if I actually get in an accident, Porsche will repair my car with OEM parts.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Paul, I'm going to call them today...

POST 4Original post

Yes but it’s too mileage focused Hagerty has no real use limits

I recommend Leland-West - a Broker that is often advertised in PCA Club Magazines. I have had my 2000 Carrera 4 insured with them for 10 years, Rates have increased very little over that time - event though I have had two claims. They handled those claims without questions at Porsche Certified Repair centers. No hassle with a claim that required body work and Full front end clip respray due to a Wheel Cover at 60 MPH flying into the bumper bouncing on Headlamp Hood and Fender. That cost $5300 with $1800 just for the Headlamp. A second claim for $1200 for a fender bender Dent & respray was also hassle free. And NO sizable increase in annual rate - which is now $335 for $30,000 with 1000 mile coverage and Pleasure usage (due to Covid Travel limitations and retirement). In past years I had 5000 miles and Commute to work coverage and it was not much higher. Liability $250K - $100K - $250k & $10K. They include Trip interruption Spare Parts, Med Payment at Car Show, Full Glass & Person Electric Equipment as part of the Package. And $10 for Road Side assistance, and Even Pet Insurance is part of this! And my Deductible is $100 ! I have seen some bad reviews on Yelp, but my experience has been great. May be something has changed but I used my Carrera for work under their Extra cost Commuter option and had no trouble with my claims and both occurred on commute trips with errands. Make sure you ask for that option. And I did try Hagerty but at the time they wanted me to have a second car for each of the two drivers in my home. Leland did not require that and at the time I had two Porsches and an VW Sportwagon for most trips by the wife. They do require you to have proof of Liability with another carrier for that every day car. And Yes they want Photos as proof that the Porsches are garaged and in good shape. Regards for a long time PCA Member, Jack
