Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hi all, Is there a way to tell if a 996 TT has the X 50 option by the vin number or other means? Thanks!!! mark

POST 2Original post

LOL just been through this. you will get 30 differing opinions. i have studied this and there seems no conclusive way. Give the VIN to a porsche OCP - they will tell you if it was fitted at the factory. But a dealer could have fitted it subsequently. Physical proof: Intercoolers are different, but, it could be a standard turbo with the x50 type intercoolers! Don't rely on having X50 on the options sticker, not all of them have it on there. All other threads on this topic have conflicting info - Calling Porsche is the best start however, to further complicate THAT - the X50 I looked at - Porsche said it definitely didn't have X50 pack when it left the factory, and that the dealer may have added it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's sort of what I thought but was hoping there was an easier way. I'll call Porsche NA and give them the vin number and hope they come up with something. Build sheets and options sheets that state the X50 ,I suppose would suffice if one selling a car had that information. Thanks!

POST 4Original post

Try adding your VIN to the end of this URL (all the letters need to be caps apparently): Code: https://admin.porschedealer.com/reports/build_sheets/print.php?vin= That should give you the same info that the dealer will see, but it's not 100%. Giving it our C4 coupe's VIN claims it is an 01 Targa (didn't exist) with the sunroof delete option (we did order that option, but I just find it funny on a "Targa"). Other than the model and price (probably due to being the wrong model) all the options were correct though.
