Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone. My has car just rolled 90k and handles like trash. Its been this way for quite some time, now. So now I'm looking to refresh some warn suspension components. Is there a list or diagram of all the front and rear suspension components, with factory part numbers? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

"My has car just rolled 90k and handles like trash." Really? My car had 135k mi on it when I got it (with the original/stock suspension) and it always handled great (albeit a little "sloshy" in the rear due to worn motor mounts, and a little noisy/clunky in the front due to trashed top mounts and coffin arms). The first thing I'd check out are the Tires and alignment. Once these are up to spec, then start checking suspension components...

Thanks for your contribution and experience. I had the car on the lift at work, yesterday. Overall everything seems tidy and tight. However; the springs and struts are a bit bouncy and the driver side rear ball joint & swaybar link have a little clicking/play in them. I figure that I'll replace both on both sides just to be safe. I haven't gotten the chance to check the strut mounts yet, but they will be replaced regardless. I didn't consider the engine mounts until this morning as I see the right side exhaust tip is probably 10mm or so sagging as compared to the left. Your comment just confirms that I should look into the mounts condition. A coworker suggested that I get new eccentric bolts as well, in case they get damaged or break during removal.

POST 4Original post

Fcp euro has a front end parts refresh kit. They use aftermarket parts so its not too pricey.

Are the TRW control arms on par with the Meyle? Any real benefit to the EPS control arms over OEM style?

POST 8Original post

Trw r most likely the oem part but u may want to double check. I know their sway bar links r oem.

POST 9Original post

The EPS "coffin arms" have replaceable ball joints. ** I've got a pair with an extra set of ball joints for sale if you're interested. I had gotten the extra set of ball joints in case I needed to replace them, but in the mean time wound up going to a full coil over set-up with adjustable coffin arms... $250 (shipped) for the pair with the new ($120 ) extra ball joints ...

POST 10Original post

Thanks for the offer. Right now I'm trying to just gather info on the parts to get in anticipation of going through the suspension with new bits in the next year or two. I still don't know if the EPS arms are gimmicky or if they actually provide a real benefit for a car that is just street driven and not pushed to its limits.

POST 11Original post

For a street car at stock height i would just stick with oem replacement trw and meyle parts from fcp euro. Lifetime warrentee and keep all the comfort of the stock suspension.

I'm slightly lowered with Bilstein PSS10s and H&R sway bars. The reputable places I've taken my car to get aligned (~ every 2 years) haven't indicated any issues with the suspension articulation with the amount of lowering I have on the otherwise as delivered suspension components. I don't have any noticeable suspension issues but as my car nears 20 years on the OEM suspension I plan to upgrade on my timeline and not wait for any issues to present themselves.
