Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently had an issue with my Tiptronic going into limp mode. I got the codes you see below. After doing some reading I came across a repeating pattern of battery questions. I found my battery to be be failing and replaced it with. 60ah H6 from Scott at AntiGravity (thanks Scott!). After clearing the codes below (with a Durametric rental) I’m able to shift into and out of gear with no limp mode indicator, but a clunking sound persists. The is is exacerbated when holding the break and placing it in D or R. Talking to a local Indy he suggested that one of the CV might be lose or failing. I jacked it up and pulled strongly on the rear axles, seems tight. I rotated right and left left wheels when jacked up and seems normal. I haven’t put her back on the road for fear of real/ further damage. Any ideas as to what is likely the culprit? Update 1: After reverting to the original “tune” having gone back from a recently installed Fabspeed ExperTune the issues are gone. My question now is how to keep the Tiptronic happy while still enjoying the benefits of a proper tune for my Fabspeed X-Pipes/headers/competition cold air intake and the Agency Power mufflers? Update 2: An Indy put it on a lift and said the rumble sound is coming from the bell housing, said it might be the torque converter. The day prior I drove it for several minutes after reverting back to the OEM "tune" and it was fine/back-to-normal. It was the next morning after being warmed up that the rumble started again. I did not drive it further. What could cause an intermittent rumble in the bell housing? Note: the IMSB had been replaced months earlier with an LN Dual Row. How to explain the Durametric error codes? Anyone know a mechanic in Phoenix who'd work on the Tiptronic?

POST 2Original post

Your transmission mounts could be shot, but you probably need a transmission expert to chase those errors.

POST 4Original post

Looks like you have a 4s with merc 722.6 tip. common issues are the conductor plate and wire harness connector...

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 17234924

Yup, this. My 996.2 conductor plate failed, as did one of the solenoids. Cost about $1k to diagnose and fix at an Indy.

POST 6Original post

OP, Did your tuner make any changes to the transmission shift logic to modify shift speed etc?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 17238807

I had Fabspeed write an ExperTune, but I dont know that it affects the transmission.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guibo? I can't find anything using that word when searching. Misspelled maybe?

POST 9Original post

It's the rubber coupling between the transmission and the front driveshaft. Not available from Porsche, see this thread for a substitute. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...nd-sloppy.html
