Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have 19,000 miles on my C4S. I replaced the rear Pirellis at 15,000 miles, they were shot. My front Pirellis don't appear real worn but I've developed noise from the front end which sounds like tires noise. Would these be worn out at 19,000 even though they don't look that bad, or should I take it to the dealer? The noise is a low heavy sound like road noise. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Take it to your tire shop and have them swap sides with the fronts. Remount and balance required. If you have a depth gauge you can check to see if the inner tread area is worn more than the outer. The swap doesn't always cure the road noise; but if the tires are worn unevenly it will prolong their life.

POST 3Original post

P zero's? I have a set on my car and they are loud! Only 7k on them too, their coming off soon.

POST 4Original post

Wanted to get rid of my Pirelli's soon too, until getting a side wall screw on my rear tire earlier this week. Luckily, I purchase a wheel/tire warranty from the dealership (never thought I'd use it). It covered the punctured tire, so I had to purchase the other. I still had tread left on the fronts, so Pirelli's again. Really sux. I'll have to want to wear these out now.

POST 5Original post

John - How ya' been? Haven't seen any posts from you lately, have you been on vacation? How's the Bikini line progressing? Did you ever resolve or remove your water marks?

POST 6Original post

I now have 15.5k on my mich PS2's and the tires are LOUD. I can remember thinking about 3k miles ago how quiet and fun in the rain the c4cab was. Not now, it has turned into very loud and dangerous in the rain at just under the tire wear marks. time for new rears for me.

POST 7Original post

When I bought the car it had 6,450 miles on it and the rear P-Zeros were almost down to wear bars, but only in the center of the tire. Wrote Pirelli and got 50% discount on replacements at 8,300 miles. Have been running the rears at 38 psi since new (as opposed to 44 psi recommended by Porsche). Tires now have 6,000 miles and have MUCH more even tread wear across the entire tread.

POST 8Original post

I read a lot of stories on how bad the PZeros are, but mine were nice and quiet. Some tires are more susceptable than others, but if you're getting uneven wear due to alignment, then swap them left to right or flip them. I do this on all our cars and, sure enough, the noise goes away when run the other way. Then, I switch them back.

POST 9Original post

Ahh, my good buddy Gota911. Glad to hear from you again also. I have had a spell of laptopnoworkysogood. I am on tthe rebound though. I hate typing on a full size keyboard. Makes poor typing poorer. The bikini line is here to stay. I have thought about getting a RUF hood and new bumper, but that is I feel feeding the mod monster. I would rather save that money and put it towards a TT or a 997S. I am afraid I suffer from the inability to commit money to a project thaat will not return me but .10 cents on the dollar. I have to have a moment of clarity to show me my next move and how I should proceed in the car arena. My wife thinks and knows I am crazy. She stresses the same amount over a pair of shoes, yeah right; we all know who's really crazy. I go barefoot.

POST 10Original post

Get earplugs.....or else, THEY'RE ALL LOUD!!!! You want a car w/big tires, you're going to get big noise....5 Porsches, lots of different tire brands and patterns, and that's what I've learned....they're all loud!!!

POST 12Original post

Rlandis is right. none of maximum performance summer tire can last 15000 miles... mine normally worn at 8-10k miles and when they off, they were bald... Pirelli's wear out even sooner compare to PS2/SO2/SO3 That's the trade-off of having high performance tire/car. If the thread wear and road noise is an issue, stay away from sticky summer tires. maybe try ultra-high-performance category. my experience with RE-730 is LOUD. not sure about the RE-750 though. Michelin has most quiet rubbers from my experience.

POST 13Original post

... quiet rubbers... That's good to know, 'cuz squeaky rubbers ruin the mood!

POST 14Original post

Thanx to two nails in a rear tire, I finally got rid of my Pirellis' with 10,800 miles and switched to Michelin Pilot Sports. Peace and quiet at last!!! Barron

POST 15Original post

You guys get 8-15K out of your tires? I wish I could. I went through one set in 2K I went through the next set in 5K I have been using them for DEs though. Also, if I don't wear them out, I will pick up a nail or some road hazzard and have to replace them anyway Right now, I have S02s on the front, and S03s on the rear. Too new to tell what I think.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess I'm lucky with 19,000 on the front with a C4S. They don't look that bad. I have to replace with Pirelli because I just put a new set of Pirellis on the rear at 16,000.
